Lower end of pick scale. I like the characters and the setting — Jazz Age New York — but I didn‘t find the mystery particularly interesting. Vivian and Honor are eventually going to have to make up their minds about each other. Outside walk today was lovely. #audiowalk
I think I read these books for the characters rather than the mystery. In this one, Bea‘s uncle dies; everyone but Vivian thinks it‘s a suicide. Florence comes more into her own here. I had to walk inside today because of the rain. #audiowalk
This catchy title caught my eye in a used bookstore. At first I thought it might refer to the AIDS era, post-70s, but it‘s a memoir about F. Scott Fitzgerald and his sad decline after the heyday of the Jazz Age. Tony Buttitta, a bookshop owner and writer befriended Fitzgerald in the summer of 1935, and this is his recollection. It‘s well-written and I‘d recommend it for anyone interested in Fitzgerald or Asheville history.
I was so glad to spend time with Vivian Kelly again. It was also good to get to know her sister, Florence better. All the other great characters are here too: Danny, Honor and Bea, whose Uncle has died. Ruled a suicide by the cops, the friends aren‘t convinced and there investigation reveals a terrible conspiracy. Once again Schellman gives us wonderful period detail. Can‘t wait for the next in the series!
This incomplete manuscript could have been an interesting novel were it was finished. The characters weren't exactly interesting but the events surrounding them were.

Progress:
I finished AFfC last week and a short story, overall a productive week. Will be finishing Artemis this upcoming week. Started a bunch of ebooks too, still fantasy-dominated but I am balancing that with The Last Tycoon.
still trying to get back into my other picks.
Third time's the charm. I got a 19 so let's try to read through this one. I enjoy F. Scott Fitzgerald's writing style and prose so this should not be a bad pick.
This is a fine collection of about 40 short stories Fitzgerald wrote with a brief introduction when and where they were published and a few lines with fascinating facts about them. I loved Winter Dreams written while he was planning The Great Gatsby and The Swimmers which Fitzgerald described as “the hardest story I ever wrote.”
