pickIt‘s an entertaining read about wealthy people in Paris mostly during the 1920s. It‘s divided by the pov of a seventeen year old American woman that ran away to Paris to avoid an arraigned marriage in Sicily and a Russian aristocratic painter that fled to Paris during the Russian revolution. It is a love story that dwells on the commodification of youth and sexuality to a large extent. I don‘t think much has changed.
