Yes I "needed" a new candle.... ? #candle #library #fragrance

1 It may be obvious to say books, but I especially loved the smell of brand new school books, cracking them open and sticking my nose right in the middle.
2 A crayon/paint/Play-Doh mix. I taught Montessori preK for 27 years and the smell of a preschool classroom still makes me smile.
4 Weirdly tobacco. I am not a smoker, but I love the smell of pipes and cigars. I even have a candle that smells like them.

Interesting read about the perfume industry.

"The History of Perfume", such a delightful incursion in the world of senses!
Apart from sharing the art of creating a perfume and unravelling the magical and legendary healing and curative universe of natural spices, the book also shows how food and drinks recipes can be improved with essential oils and natural essences. And it also reminded me that grey amber and musk, two of my favorite base notes in a perfume, are actually of animal origin.

I know what she's saying: 'Is this pile going to be read anytime soon? It has been left unattended on my territory for too long...'

I'm building my February TBR pile 📚 with perfume, philosophy and plants as prevalent themes, this could result in an unexpected yet engaging and exquisite mix

An interesting look at the history of perfume and it‘s evolution into the scents we know today. From how your olfactory system works, to the chemical components of fragrance, and how natural and synthetic ingredients become a well-blended fragrance. It was interesting to see how cultural trends, science, and improved technology shaped changes in fragrances as well. Somewhat technical, but still accessible.
