The true appeal of the book was learning about the establishments where the stories take place and the vibe of the city. He also does a thorough job of fact-checking and debunking a number of the Quarter‘s myths and legends to include Madame LaLaurie, Marie Laveau, and the Laffite brothers. Most of the ghost stories are pretty mild. I enjoyed this though as it gives great descriptions of the city. I even added a few stops during my time there!

I enjoy her characters, especially the animals. Mira is finally going to get to move into her new home, but finds the realtor dead in the kitchen. The next day someone starts a fire and the catastrophes continue. Jay and Aeri step in to help, but Mira believes the local police are worthless.

A unique plot set in New Orleans with complicated relationships, family drama, ghosts, and more has set this series off to a terrific start.

The Ghost Who Was Afraid of Everything | Nadia Ahmed (Illustrator)

3.5 ⭐ This is a bad ghost who‘s afraid. But one year when he doesn‘t get what he most wants from his family, he decides the only way to ensure that is to become less afraid. He spends the year slowly building up stamina so that he can join his family to get what they most desired. Occasionally, there‘s a setback, but the setbacks make him stronger in the end. This is a great message. The story is a little long, but in total

LibrarianRyan works quite well. The illustrations are unique and unusual but work perfectly for this book in the setting.

3 ⭐ A ghost loves being in the meadow, making friends collecting flowers, etc. Their dream job is to take over the haunting of a very important castle. Upon landing their dream job they do it and they love it until they realize that they‘re losing part of themselves. They need to go back to the meadow. I understand the allegory of this book. That sometimes what you dream of doing is not actually right for you. But I‘m not sure if it‘s the phrasing

LibrarianRyan or if it‘s the way it‘s written. This book makes it seem like Wolfgang went back to the meadow, but took some of the haunting stuff with them When I think a better message might have been to be able to do a little bit of both. I‘m not sure I do like the art. I‘m just not the biggest fan of the story. 8mo
