Daindreth's Assassin | Elisabeth Wheatley

I read these when I learned that Tears of the Wolf is a sort of prequel. The writing is not as good as these newest two books, but it‘s a solid story about two cursed individuals trying to survive, break their curses and have fallen in love- and basically a lot of people are trying to capture and or kill them. Also monsters.

PuddleJumper I love her book goblin skits 2mo

I enjoy Elisabeth Wheatley‘s videos and decided I should try her books. This is the first book of a complete series and available on Hoopla, so I thought it would be a better choice than her new series. It has some interesting world building, but it‘s also very much a first book that sets up a series. I‘m giving it a light pick, and I may or may not pick up the next books when I‘m looking for another light fantasy listen.

I found this via IG, as the author has hysterical Book Goblin reels, and decided to give this series a try. I like Wheatley‘s writing style. The world building is good, even if the set up drags a bit. The ending is open, prepped for the sequel. I‘m looking forward to seeing how things play out.

ReadingOver50 I love the book Goblin videos too! 12mo

DGRachel @Soubhiville She has several complete series and has a new series that starts early next year. 12mo
Soubhiville That‘s so cool. I‘m not sure why I didn‘t know that. Definitely planning to give her a try this year. 🙂📚 12mo
julesG I think you're the first person I know who has read one of her books. Yes, there are lots of positive reviews, but I tend to look for reviews from people I know before getting a book that might be "epic". I'm allergic to "epic" novels. ("epic" to me means something along "drawn out plot/world-building/character development and endless/unnecessary descriptions of mundane things") 12mo
DGRachel @julesG I think she did a good job with the initial world building but yes, there are definitely some things she‘s intentionally drawing out and I‘m not best pleased about it. But, the first book was good enough that I want to read at least the next and since they were on sale for a reasonable price, I went ahead and bought the remaining 5 ebooks. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 12mo
julesG Okay! Thanks. I'm off to have a look at whether they are on sale here too. 12mo

A high fantasy romance novel that is a little too romance for this to be a great book for me, but it was a good read and a very interesting world.
A cursed prince falls for a cursed stepdaughter of a vassal king. They must try to break their curses while avoiding the plots of demons and empresses.
4/5 read for a high fantasy romance that is more realistic about the skills needed to be an assassin than most female assassin books.

iread2much Some of my wonderful #litsylove penpals have asked to see some of my #lego sets, but I‘m having a hard time getting them sized for this app. Sorry all! 1y

Layers and layers of intrigue topped off with an excellent unreliable narrator. I think Grace is Carter's darkest-humored heroine, which is an interesting change from her other books, too. The amateur teenage espionage crew grows, as well! #reread #yalit #yathriller

Ace book.
Really great writing, felt very real. Plus an abundance of female characters and authors.
