When @HarperVoyagerUS announces the cover of the 3rd book (and you immediately go 😍)... but you still haven‘t read to the 1st book. #readerproblems #judgebycover

I finished this one late last night so I thought I would combine it with my monthly wrap up. I wanted to love this book, and I did like it, but it was very slow in places which I found odd for a relatively short book. It was for my #LRC #judgebycover - clockwork ravens, count me in! I completed the #mmdchallenge (fun track) this month!

This was just as good the second time! I found myself rolling my eyes at some parts because I knew what was going to happen, but I still love the characters (most of them 😉) and the world! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #litsyreadingchallenge #judgebycover @jessica #readingforfunmmd #unputdownable

I wish I liked this book more than I do. It deserves praise for being inspiring and honest about anxiety, autism, feminism, gender roles, bisexuality, and self-acceptance. I was truly moved by a lot of this. Unfortunately, I never connected with characters. It also has super insta-love elements that I couldn't get into. I think many people out there will LOVE it, though. #litsyatoz - Q #lrc17 #judgebycover because THAT COVER IS SO GORGEOUS.

Adorable cover! Set in Brooklyn! I read the whole book! (Those are all the good things I could come up with.)

britt_brooke 😂😂😂 8y
saresmoore @britt_brooke I think I'm learning (slowly) that I just don't like chick lit! I imagine you can relate. Why do I keep getting baited by pretty covers?! 8y

britt_brooke @saresmoore I used to love chick lit, but I rarely read any anymore. It's funny how your tastes can change so much. 8y
LeahBergen 😬 8y
Hobbinol 😆Way to keep it positive ❗ 8y
saresmoore @LeahBergen It wasn't a bad book, I don't think, but I had to start rewarding myself every ten (ridiculously short) chapters to finish the damn thing! Have you read it? 8y
saresmoore @Hobbinol I prefer to live by the philosophy of Monty Python and "Always look on the bright side of life!" 8y
Cinfhen Yes, I agree completely with your review 🙃The cover is super cute💗 8y
LeahBergen I haven't read it (and won't be now ?). I didn't mind The Vacationers but I think it might be because I read it at the lake in the summer, surrounded by nieces and nephews and their kids. I didn't have to work at it too hard (and I specifically don't pack "good" books to take for big crazy family times like that. Snobby? ?) 8y
Laalaleighh Better or worse than the vacationers? 8y
saresmoore @LeahBergen Not snobby, strategic! I think when @Cinfhen reviewed it, she described it as a beach read. I can see how this would be good for vacation or lots of distractions because the chapters are super short. Still, I think is one to pass on. 8y
saresmoore @Laalaleighh I haven't read The Vacationers, but I think it must be better than this one. The characters and setting (my two favorite parts of any book) felt forced and the story was just kinda boring. 8y
Laalaleighh @saresmoore I read the vacationers (on holiday no less) and just didn't get the hype. The setting was lovely but other than that it wasn't memorable at all. So that lets me know all I need to know about this one. If she didn't even do the setting right theres really no point, is there? Thanks! (edited) 8y
saresmoore @Laalaleighh Yes and amen. 8y
NCNY I feel bad that I encouraged you to keep going with it. Oops. 😔 8y
saresmoore @NCNY Not at all! I finished it for a reading challenge—Judge by the Cover category. I did appreciate the character growth, especially Ruby's and Zoe's, which made it worth finishing. 8y

Pickpick

This is my #LRC17 #judgebycover book & my E book for #LitsyAtoZ This is between a pick & so-so, the premise was interesting & some of the tech was unique, like the Fortis ship made of living wood with sentient plants, but the story itself was a bit predictable & dragged in the middle then rushed at the end. This is the first book in a series by a debut author so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. #LitsyReadingChallenge

briski This one is on my list too! There's been a lot of hype though...maybe I shouldn't let my expectations get too high! 8y
Lindy Have you read the Saga comics series? I love that their ship is a sentient tree. 8y
Lizpixie @Lindy Yes! It was the first thing I thought of too, I think she's borrowed that idea and embellished it a bit. 8y

If you want to read classic literary review, do not read this book. If you are in the mood for a quirky book that irreverently, yet delightfully, honours a love of the classics, read this book. #lrc17 #JudgeByCover This bizarre cover made me not want to read this book, I over came my prejudice and enjoyed it.
