Didn't expect to meet my favourite poet (Yeats) in this book.

Man… possibly more relevant than ever.

This is a “heavy” book, meaning a lot of material is presented with real world examples that might blow one‘s mind. So heavy in fact, this is one that would be even more beneficial to read in a hard copy.

Still. Despite knowing all media (left or right) are propagandist in general, Herman & Chomsky really drive it home.

We all need to be more vigilante & not take anything at face value. Stay safe.

Wow. Incredibly raw and well-written piece reflecting on the landscape of journalism: how and why things become news, the conveyor belt of stories, and where we as correspondents, editors, and readers fall short.

A good workhorse of a book covering the professional lives of 11 of Edward R. Murrow's mentees. Although the book makes it relatively easy to keep track of so many individuals, the authors could have stood to either write a few more pages or focus on a few fewer subjects. Either would have been equally suitable and I'll let that sum up my feelings on the quality of the writing itself.

A new episode of The Checkout Stack featuring @monalyisha and Megan Tully from the Ames Free Library in MA just dropped this morning. Tune in for a great set of book recommendations and a bonus cozy TV show which I enjoyed while recovering from a cold.

Chelsea.Poole Just finished the episode. Really enjoyed hearing @monalyisha and all the recs. This may just be my favorite new podcast!?! (I don‘t listen to podcasts but maybe I do now!) 2mo
monalyisha Aww, thanks @Chelsea.Poole & @BookmarkTavern! I don‘t typically listen to podcasts either but you know I think this topic is worth it…and I love Maria‘s passion! I *do* listen to Katherine May‘s podcast occasionally (because of course I do). And I managed to get into “60 Songs That Explain the 90‘s” for a while (the episode about Mazzy Star was my personal fave). 2mo

...to make it look as if when we attack and destroy somebody we're really protecting and defending ourselves against major aggressors and monsters and so on.
