wanderinglynn I started reading this book a couple of months ago but couldn‘t get into it,so I set it aside. I may give it another go this month. That being said, I take ratings with a grain of salt. Everyone has books they love and don‘t love. There are books I love with low ratings. So what? I still love it regardless of what others think. And there are highly rated books that I panned. That‘s the beauty of books—there are books for every type of reader. 💜 3y

Ruthiella I enjoy using goodreads for cataloging what I‘ve read, but I pay VERY little attention to the ratings. If you loved it, you loved it and your taste in books cannot be denied! 3y

bthegood It's a win-win for authors - if there are good ratings people pick up the book, if there are not good ratings people pick up the book and assume others are wrong about it 😊 3y

SeaToSkyes @wanderinglynn yes! One that I looked at only had quotes from other authors or from like book reviews on it. That doesn't help at all! 3y

The_Penniless_Author Lol, Slate just ran an article about this very subject. Apparently, book descriptions are now calibrated to trigger certain algorithms that help them get noticed on social media. Kind of like the 50-word-long subtitles many non-fiction books have now to optimize their Amazon search results. 3y
