ONCE UPON A WARDROBE. | PATTI. CALLAHAN
post image
Pickpick

This book was recommended to me by #gettbr / Book Riot. I wasn‘t sure if I was going to like a book about a sick kid getting obsessed with the lion, the witch and the wardrobe, but I really did. I loved the main character and her journey. A bit of a sad ending but you kind of know that going in.

Laughterhp Forgot to post this was also my #doublespin for January! @TheAromaofBooks 2mo

Read4life So lovely. I‘m a snow lover but my family loves warm/hot weather. My husband is from the Virgin Islands and have been apologizing to me for a month that it‘s SO COLD here at night. The lowest temp we‘ve had was 69. I told them I‘m a polar bear 🐻‍❄️ and they can apologize for it being in the 80s during the day. 😉 2mo
BookwormM Wow that looks magical 2mo

This is my non-mystery #serieslove2024 list. There‘s no way I‘ll read all of these along with the rest of my planned reading for the year, but I definitely want to pick off a few of them. The tagged book might (or might not) be one of them. #shipsorsailing #newyearnewbooks

TheSpineView Looks fabulous! Enjoy 3mo
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick In my opinion, Dawn Treader was the last of the good books in that series. But maybe that's just me, with no nostalgia of it from childhood. As for the Cemetery of Forgotten Books series, I thought Prisoner of Heaven was better than The Angel's Game, so hoteliers you'll be delighted to carry on. I have book 4 plus the short story collection to go and hope that this year is the year I finish that series. 3mo
Susanita @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I absolutely loved The Shadow of the Wind. Angel‘s Game was memorable but not as magical as the first. I‘m looking forward to the next one in any case. 3mo

Mehso-so

Mediocre writing, mediocre (emotionally manipulative) plot. I enjoyed the parts that were about the life of CS Lewis, but I could've done without the entire story of Megs and her unwell baby brother.

This was my #bookspin for December. @TheAromaofBooks

Ahhh I loved this story! It was so touching and I loved learning more about C.S. Lewis and the writing of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. It truly was beautifully written and I can‘t think of much better than a story about the magic and love of reading! Highly recommend. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 #wintergames #SantasBookshELVES

First time rereading since childhood — maybe at age 8 or so — and Edmund is even more of a shit than I remembered (like, way earlier than the bewitched Turkish Delights). Plus, the Biblical allegory is much more obvious. Still, it IS wonderfully atmospheric and charming. Full of enchanting visuals that I was pleased to find have lingered much more accurately in my memory.

Received my December recs from Book Riot‘s #mytbr

I asked for books to read on a cold dark winter night and here‘s what I got. I‘ve never heard of any of these books and am looking forward to picking them up.

Has anyone read any of these?

Pogue Thr Cat Who Saved Books was different but fun. 3mo
