Continuing this read while the car is in for an oil change. Nice little morning break from work! I'm enjoying it so far but I'm not that far in yet. Won't get it finished today for #bookedintime but I'm glad I was led to this book by the prompt!

@Cuilin

Cuilin How amazing, I read The Brendan Voyage by Severin years ago. This also seems a good choice for September‘s prompt 2d
LeeRHarry @Cuilin I read this this month, definitely enjoyed it and will be continuing the series. 2d
Jess861 @Cuilin Thank you for the suggestion - I just might have to pick that book up for September! 2d
Jess861 @LeeRHarry Good to know - I'm about 100 pages in and I like it so far. 2d

I‘m pleased to be back on board and in the early 19th century with Captain Jack Aubrey and Dr. Stephen Maturin as they sail to what was then known as New Holland (Australia) and the Spice Islands (Indonesia). This is book five in the 20 book Aubrey-Maturin series.

LeahBergen I need to get back to this series! 4w
Ruthiella I pretty much only manage one book from it a year. 😅 4w

Pickpick

A fun romp through a female pirate's life. I thoroughly enjoyed the setting and the struggles of the main characters. The fight scenes were gory and compelling. The first half of the book felt realistic, but the second half leaned heavily on the "fiction" part of historical fiction. It's an interesting idea of what life could have been like though, and well worth the read. As all good readers do, suspend disbelief!

Pickpick

Overall, I'd say this was a Pick. The pace was good for a historical novel, and I enjoyed reading about the Battle of Copenhagen given that I visited the city this past summer. The only downside to this book: few female characters, and what ones exist are not well rounded. (I don't expect many given the setting, but it would be nice for the ones there ARE to be interesting.)

Seabreeze_Reader 🎃🙂🎅🏻 That reminds me of my Wednesday grocery shopping. Other than a few sad, lonely pumpkins,all the Halloween stuff had disappeared and the shelves were stocked with all things green and red. The Nightmare Before Christmas, lol. (edited) 4mo

5feet.of.fury @Seabreeze_Reader I hosted a brunch & creepy crafts day on October 16 and most of the stores were already barely any Halloween and SO MUCH Christmas! Earlier & earlier it seems 4mo

I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it (some I‘ve had so long I don‘t even remember why!). Feel free to join in!
