Here are my upcoming plans for the year. I love having a monthly focus, and I find it helps with my reading productivity. By setting aside a week or a month to focus on middle grade, or ARCs, or chunky books i tend to do better with hitting goals, and avoiding slumps.

Not all of these events are hosted by me, just ones I plan to participate in. Check out the hashtags as the months get closer, if you‘d like to join along. ❤️

What an incredible story of survival of a man who would be one of the first (and only a handful of) Jews that escaped from Auschwitz. It‘s amazing how resilient he was and utterly heartbreaking what he had to go through - not just during his time there but after his escape as well. Well written and laid out well

This book reminded me of my fav quote by our late president Abdul Kalam sir, “if you want to shine like a sun, first burn like a sun”. It is brutally honest memoir. It tells the story of actual suffering & burning behind the glittering life of the Actress. motivating & inspiring. Of course, I enjoyed the #audio #memoir 4.5⭐️

I had a very busy reading week!!! 5 were #NFNovember and also my #BookSpin #DoubleSpin and while I enjoyed all 5 books, I felt a few were just too long. Same for You Love Me, book 3 in the YOU series. House of Sticks was probably my favorite of the week followed by Friday Night Lights!!! Review coming. Palace Papers was also VERY good - more info than I needed to know. Carolina Built was #MoreMehThanYeah & Notes was a pick - good on audio 🙌🏻

squirrelbrain Wow, a great week! 1y
Deblovestoread Fantastic week! 1y
Cinfhen Some weeks I really surprise myself although 3 books I started in October- just took me longer to finish them @squirrelbrain @Deblovestoread 1y

I listened to this on audio. Overall I enjoyed it. I‘ve always had an interest in cults so the discussion was often engaging. I was particularly interested in some of the MLM stuff as I‘d had exposure to that thanks to my sister trying several of them for a while

Well, I was hoping to get in one more, but this looks like it for November‘s #BookSpinBingo for me. Four bingos, I read 14/20 list books, and eight of my (non-picture book) reads were for #NFNovember. I‘m pretty happy with it.
@TheAromaofBooks thanks for hosting such a fun challenge!

On the one hand, I did learn some things about Arnold. On the other, I don‘t think there was really enough for a stand alone book. I felt many scenes were unnecessarily expanded just to fill pages.

Also warning for sensitive readers (like me), some of the battle scenes have rather graphic descriptions.

I also learned that apparently “YA history” is now a genre. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Book 2 for #NFNovember
Book 6 for #NovelNovember 🎉

Andrew65 Doing brilliantly 👏👏👏 2y

A wonderful guide to magical writing or “word witchery.” Whether or not you identify as a witch, whether or not you identify as a writer, Lisa provides guidance for all who seek find their own voice.

This is not a linear read but one you go through at random. Picking sections that fit where you are today. The book is nicely laid out and is accented with drawings, colors, quotes and poems. I will definitely be using this book regularly.

wanderinglynn Book 1 for #NFNovember. Book 5 for #NovelNovember 2y

It‘s been a slower reading week for me. NonFiction just takes longer to digest.

I hope to finish Islands of Abandonment this weekend, and maybe also Lab Girl. They are both excellent.

I picked up the second Percy Jackson to give my brain a break, but honestly I think I‘m going to bail on it… not connecting, so it‘s probably destined for my LFL.

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I pushed myself to read the Percy Jackson series and really wish I just gave up. 2y
Soubhiville @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick oh! Well I‘m glad I‘m passing on it then 😬. I‘m sure as a kid I would have loved them. 2y
