#gratefulreads that you #thoughtyouwouldlikebutdidnt

With respect to all you lovely lot that adore this book.... I detested it with a passion. Not helped by a terrible audio book narrator.... Managed about 80% then couldn't take any more lol. I won't tell you what I renamed it 😁😁 #notforme #unpopularopinion

@Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @OriginalCyn620

Hooked_on_books I didn‘t like it either. But you made it much further than me—I bailed after a few chapters. 4w
julesG I read the whole trilogy just because I was hoping it would get better. It didn't. 4w
Lucy_Anywhere I read this years ago and remember being a bit disappointed... she was a bit wet, drank tea and took a lot of baths as I remember 4w

OriginalCyn620 Ha! I think I can fill in that blank! 😂 sorry you didn‘t like it though 4w
Balibee146 @Hooked_on_books I don't know why I wasted so many hours struggling through it! @julesG 😱😱😱 4w
Balibee146 @Lucy_Anywhere lol yup that just about sums it up.... Oh and rowed a lot and dithered even more 🙄🙄🙄 4w
Balibee146 @OriginalCyn620 the final word in my version still begins with w and ends in s........ 4w
SupTeaReadBooks Haha, I literally threw that one at the wall. There‘s a dent. No disrespect to those who enjoyed it; it was a ‘straw that broke the camel‘s back‘ situation as far as my paranormal romance reading went. 4w
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I‘m iffy about starting this one based on all of the mixed reviews!! 4w
Balibee146 @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks whatever you decide avoid the audio book at all costs lol 💩💩💩 4w

Bailedbailed

Well...this isn t my kind of book. It's not badly written I was just bored and life is too short to be stuck reading a book I couldn't get into or find myself caring what happened next. I think this is a case of historical fiction mismatch.

#unpopularopinion 2.5 stars rounded up to 3. I was glued to The Almost Sisters but had to force myself to finish this one. It‘s full of secrets and some twists, but it‘s #notforme. I think I struggled with this one because Amy wasn‘t a very sympathetic or likable character. I loved her sweet little family and even dealt with some other things that came up, but in the end it all felt 😏.

I will never be able to read a Heroine with a dirty petticoat and not think of this book. That being said, this was not for me. It's well written just not to my taste. Yes bodily functions happen and hygiene was different then; but I don't actually want to read about menstruation and unshaven armpits. 😳

It took me FOREVER to get through this book! It‘s a chunkster! I thought the time travel premise was interesting but expected more traveling between the two time periods. There was also a lot more sex and graphic violence than I anticipated. I doubt I will continue with this series. #notforme

Curiouser_and_curiouser I'm halfway through but I had to take a break as I felt it was dragging. It also felt like it took me ages to just get through the first half but unfortunately I've seen the first 2 seasons of the series so I'm constantly comparing the book to the series and thinking that the series is a lot more dramatic and raunchy infact when compared to the book, which doesn't seem nearly as exciting when compared. I hope to finish it someday 5mo
ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled I couldn‘t get through it. Im glad I‘m not alone! I think I‘m going to try the series though. 5mo
jenniferajanes @Curiouser_and_curiouser @ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled It‘s definitely good to know I‘m not alone! After all the hype, it‘s a disappointment. 5mo

Curiouser_and_curiouser @jenniferajanes @ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled yes, I guess we missed the book boat years ago before the series was made. I have quite a few friends who read the all the books many years ago and loved them, I think it was called The Cross and the Switchblade back then. We might have been a bit spoilt with Jamie on the screen to bother with the books now, lol. I think I'd like to try it again though, but at another time, maybe when I'm older & slower 😉 5mo
slategreyskies I expected more traveling between the time periods too. That was such a longggg book. Also, I definitely need something lighter next. That was intense! 4mo
jenniferajanes @slategreyskies I felt the same way! Good luck with your next read! 📚🥰 4mo

There were only few ideas and lines that I really liked. But overall it wasn‘t a hit. There are far better books out there on this topic, in my opinion. I didn‘t enjoy the writing/setup. #stevenpressfield #artist #artistsstruggle #creativebattle #notforme

kathedron I haven't read it. I think the whole fight/battle/war metaphor is overdone (in life generally) and it's high time we started finding different ways to make meaning of our realities. 7mo
TheBee @kathedron do you have an example? I‘m interested. 7mo
kathedron I suppose I would rather seek to understand the difficult situations and people in my life, to establish communication rather than fight. I think trying to defeat/eradicate situations with a lot of energy behind them just tends to make the problem burst out elsewhere. I realise that may be idealistic of me. (Brexit is sorely testing this point of view currently!) 7mo
TheBee @kathedron Are you maybe referring to another book? Maybe you mean the Art of War? The one I read is more about the inner battle that is the reality of many people. 7mo
Sunraven I agree, I also found this book underwhelming, despite all the high praise I‘ve seen for it. And I agree with @kathedron, I think there are better ways to frame struggles, both internal and external.

I probably would have enjoyed this book more if it had been presented more as a personal story and less as universal advice, since what‘s true for one person isn‘t always true for everyone, and sweeping generalizations tend to bug me. 😁

I really struggled through this one... and by the end I was more skimming than reading... This has plenty of things I usually enjoy- characters who are book lovers, an Irish setting... but I couldn‘t connect with any of the characters and I just didn‘t care what was going to happen in this snail-paced book....#NotForMe (but the accompanying #AvocadoToast was delicious!!)

emilyhaldi Your toast looks fab though!!! 🤤 13mo
TorieStorieS Thanks, @emilyhaldi - I cannot take any credit! My husband is the toast-master of our house!! 🤣 13mo
emilyhaldi Lucky you!! My husband still doesn‘t understand this avocado toast trend 🙄 I‘m on my own if I want any toast in my house!! 😆 13mo
TorieStorieS @emilyhaldi Though we live in the Chicago area, my husband‘s office is actually in LA so avocado toast is something he was excited to make after eating it there first! 😂 13mo

Not sure about this one! Love that it‘s endorsed by Martha Stewart though - especially with that title ! Seems there‘s a whole new sub genre of cook books! #notforme !

julesG I'd probably buy it just because it's so far off my beaten cookbook track. 😉 14mo
Mitch @julesG 🤣🤣 14mo
wanderinglynn I‘d buy it just because it‘s Snopp Dogg. 😂 love to watch him & Martha together! 14mo

GripLitGrl 😂🤣 14mo
Maewyn I left my Litsy browsing to go find excerpts from the show. It looks hilarious! They are great together. 14mo
tammysue When I first heard they teamed up to do a show together I had to see for myself. Omg it works.. really enjoy their show! 😂 14mo

Meh.. I finished it and I adored Barney the dog but the plot just was not believable also some of the dialogue was over the top. I felt the same way about Come Sundown. I just don‘t get why so many readers love her so that‘s it for me for Nora Roberts. #UnpopularOpinion. Oddly enough I love her J D Robb “In Death” series so I will continue to enjoy Roark and Eve‘s romantic but thrilling tales of murder and mayhem. 🤷‍♀️
