What did y'all think of this one?
I enjoyed the look into Armenian culture and all the delicious food.
(I apologize for the late posting, I've been dealing with some chronic illness issues lately, which has been affecting my mental health as well)
So this one was “okay” just really was a #NotForMe type of book, maybe if I did audio I might have liked the accents or get more of the drama - or I don‘t know, I did like the MC eventually standing up for herself but felt like it took too long for it. Looking forward to the #RiseUpReads discussion

I actually finished a #RiseUpReads before the end of the month!
I listened to this one, and I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more if I had read it. The voice actress made the main character sound very immature at times, or else I am way too old to appreciate the tone used. However, I enjoyed the family story, the growth of the MC, and the relationship side of the story. It also made me really hungry for falafel!

Ellie needs therapy, not a new relationship. The romance was the least interesting part of this book.
I really enjoyed the food, family, and cultural dynamics. The romance was tepid -cute and fast paced but nothing interesting.
The writing was very bland for me. I kept zoning out as I was reading.

Two Armenian families enter a competition to promote their food brands. Nazeli & Vanya have an instant chemistry which their shared culture strengthens, until they realize their parents have been in a years-long feud. They hide their budding relationship while trying to convince the judges that Armenian cuisine can be palatable to the masses
Loved the romance in this one! Forbidden romance/rivals
And I enjoyed learning about Armenian food &culture
3/5⭐ This is a cute, fun, simple romance. The characters felt one-dimensional. I never got a feel for Ellie's personality or why Vanya would be attracted to her. Ellie seemed immature, and her reactions to her ex being pretty much the same as her feelings for Vanya made it difficult to believe in the new relationship. #buzzwordathon
