I love me some op shopping down time. Had a discount card on this day a while back too as I had 5 stamps on my card. It gives you a discount on the clothes. Woo hoo!
Humans for the most part you are dull and blundering, but occasionally you can be remarkably bright creatures “ 🐙 🥰 what a great book I really do hope someone turns this little gem into a film , so far my favourite read of ‘24 & soooo glad 😌 read it on holiday so could give it the full attention it deserves
Nightstand stack has finally gotten smaller. I also got this lovely crocheted fabric at the thrift store for $4. It‘s gorgeous and it must have taken whoever crafted it some time!
Next holiday read 🐙 haven‘t eaten one for years and never ever will they pass my lips 👄 again ! #marchreads #bookspinbingo
Reading this for a book club at my library. Im liking it so far.
I saw this painting this past weekend and it reminded me of Marcellus. I had to share it with you, @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks & the #LitsyLoveReads group. 🧡🐙🧡
Just a lovely book about a woman who befriends an octopus, and the friends surrounding them.
Sweet and moving, with a real sense of place, and characters I cared about, Remarkably Bright Creatures is feel-good fiction at its finest.
I loved Marcellus so so much. He made the book shine.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A very sweet story focusing on grief, found family and new beginnings. May have been just a bit too sweet for me, but nothing against that.
February is muddy and dingy, and virusy.
So I thought I'd share a picture of this colourful spread from earlier on.
Enjoying the book, but boy is Cameron annoying 🤣
A warm read of interwoven stories and a perfect little seaside town. The characters in this book feel like family, including the sea life. Certainly a pleasant read!
My first buddy read with #LitsyLoveReads
I wouldn‘t have read the tagged book if I had saw it in a bookshop, but so glad I read it with you guys ❤️
Misty-you really are thoughtful 💕
I really don‘t like it in books when we, the readers, find out information before the characters. We‘re then left reading pages and pages waiting for the characters to catch up!! Plus way too predictable. (The octopus didn‘t add much to the story, even though I loved him, it felt like a trend ticking exercise. He was not in the story nearly enough!!)
3 ⭐
Sweet but very predictable. Reminded me of Fredrick Backman's writing. Read for a f2f bookclub. My favorite character was Marcellus, which I didn't expect.

"Tova wonders sometimes if it's better that way, to have one's tragedies clustered together, to make good use of the existing rawness. Get it over with in one shot. Tova knew there was a bottom to those depths of despair. Once your soul was soaked through with grief, any more simply ran off, overflowed, the way maple syrup on Saturday-morning pancakes always cascaded onto the table whenever Erik was allowed to pour it himself."
This was such a wonderful read!
I particularly loved how the character of the octopus Marcellus was developed; he is a great and exquisite narrator, giving more depth and meaning to the story. His lines are funny, yet he appears for the heart-wrenching reality. Overall, really heart-warming!
It is so gray here that you can‘t tell that‘s a lovely red fox staring at me as I approached. I‘m fairly picky about audiobooks & usually don‘t like fiction on audio, but this story was great & the audio kept my attention. An elderly woman mourning the death of her son 30 years ago, a young man searching for his father, & an octopus who is delightful. An enjoyable read that kept me occupied on my hour-long drive to City Hall to work on elections.
3.5 stars
A lovely story. I really liked Tova‘s story. A widow who also lost her only son at 18. I also liked Marcellus the octopus, although his narration seemed a bit corny. Cameron was my least favorite narrator. This is just a sweet book about unlikely friendships.
Wow ok, I don't know what happened to my litsy but my last post was 4m ago and after that I couldn't get the app to load properly, find the app to reinstall, nor get my password reset. Somehow by luck I remembered the password and I'm back in on browser version at least. Anyway, hello again, this book was amazing (I know, I'm late to that game). And my own “remarkably bright creature“ is growing rapidly!
Easy choice for my favorite read in January.
Thanks @Catsandbooks for this template! #BookBracket2024
Like @peanutnine I‘m completing 2 brackets this year. They‘re set up differently and I‘m very curious to see how different match ups affect the outcomes.

He flattens the photo, and even in the half dark he recognizes a teenage version of his mother, her arms around a man he‘s never seen before.”
💙🐙💙 My favorite book from January. I honestly don‘t know if I would have picked this up if not for the #LitsyLoveReads buddy read. 🤓
1) This is a tougher question to answer than I‘d expected. I‘ve finished 21 books this month and bailed on a few others. The tagged book is one of my favorites. Other favorites include The Spectacular, The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store, and maybe All the Sinners Bleed. These authors are now added to my list of favorites to buy without hesitation.
2) Dhalgren by Samuel Delany for #ClassicLSFBC.

We‘re at the end of January so I‘m making sure I have my trackers up to date. I like having these graphics to add to my digital journal at the end of the year. They make for nice reflections on my interactions and reading.
I loved loved loved this one! 💙🐙💙

Needed to get gas in my car, so I might as well spend some time with a book, a latte, and an egg and cheese on a cheddar chive biscuit 😋 📖
There is a woman a bit older than me a couple tables over reading a Cormac McCarthy book.
I'd rather be curled with a book, but sometimes that's not an option. On weekends I have time to do housework and then I enjoy in audiobooks.

This was quite unique and I liked it more than I was expecting! Strangely I think my favorite character was the octopus 🤣…but who can blame me, he was really smart and industrious and seemed more astute than most of the other characters. That‘s not to say that I didn‘t like the others, I really did. They were all really charming in their own ways. I will say some of the connections were pretty unbelievable and not hard to figure out but still ⬇️
