#WondrousWednesday @Eggs (😍 for the tag!)

1. Tagged: THE BOOK OF ALCHEMY; it just came out. I learned about the author from an intriguing article in the NYT and just had to have it.
2. I keep two records of books I've read: #1: a journal where I write down favorite quotes that will hopefully help me remember the story and #2: a Litsy review. I love the required shortness of words; you have to really choose your words wisely.
You're all tagged!

Suet624 I agree with you about enjoying having to be brief in reviews. 7d
dabbe @Suet624 What an exercise to try to teach my students! Write a literary analysis in less that 150 words! They're like 😳! Succinct word choice is so important! 🤩😍🤣 7d
Suet624 What a great teaching opportunity. 7d

shortsarahrose I loved Suleika‘s first book (tagged) and have followed her newsletter for a couple years. Her new one is on my TBR, but I haven‘t gotten it yet! 7d
peaKnit The author is incredible and married to John Batiste, hello, power couple of amazing humans. 7d
BooksandCoffee4Me @dabbe Love this! Oh, if I was still teaching. 😊 7d

The Coming of the Fairies | Arthur Conan Doyle

As a #sherlocked fanatic, I revere the original canon by C-Doyle. His belief and essay on fairies? #notsomuch #alittlecraycray

Bookwomble Doyle was sensible in not grafting his spiritualist beliefs onto the logical and materialist Holmes ("No ghosts need apply."), but his Professor Challenger stories did become a platform for them. The tagged biography is an interesting one in explaining how Doyle, the medical man of science, became an uncritical believer in the spirit world. 1y

rubyslippersreads I‘ve never read this, but I love the movie about it (FairyTale). I also read a rather interesting novel: 1y

This was a brilliantly written book. Much of the history was easy to read. However, it was not a book for me. I struggled through much of the the POW camp portion. I'm glad I tried and completed the #MMDchallenge of trying a genre you avoid. #notsomuch #2017christyread #nonfiction

I pushed through to the end and ... I still don't get it. It was different kind of read for me. It reminds me of At-swim-two-birds by Flann O'Brien. #notsomuch

The predictably rational writing of Predictably Irrational. An interesting book in and of itself, but unfortunately I didn't learn anything new.
