What a gut punch of an ending-my mind is still reeling- all cliches but I truly am speechless, taken totally by surprise!

This book goes back & forth between the past & the present. In the past, November 1980, Nick Hornsby is wondering about the death of Alice Poole. Her body has been found in the park and people are wondering if she was murdered by Yorkshire Murderer. In 2019, a skeleton is discovered at an archeological dig near Eastvale, so DCI Alan Banks is called to investigate.
Always fascinating to read a book set in Whitby. I visited in 2016 and would love to go back!

Peter Robinson‘s books always mentions a lot of music that DCI Banks listens to as he is a music buff!

If you haven‘t read this great series, you need to by starting with Gallows View Book 1.
Book starts out slow with dark story of drugs, murder, sex trafficking. Not nice subject matters. Gets better middle to end. Cliffhanging ending leaves things unresolved. Interesting characters. Intriguing plot with lots of twists. Many music references as usual. Not my favorite in the series but still a good read. Looking forward to next book. Recommend to those who love mystery thrillers.

The stories varied greatly in quality, as they often do in collections of this kind, but they included ones from a couple of authors I especially like: Andrew Pyper and Michael Redhill. I also enjoyed revisiting some of my favourite places in Toronto and would love to read other books in this Noir series from Akashic.
Total so far for the #MrBook1InAMillion #readathon: 7 hours and 5 minutes.

Congratulations to @MrBook on his big milestone! I'm planning to join in the fun, with the #MrBook1InAMillion weekend readathon, hosted by #LitsyPartyOfOne and sponsored by #24B4Monday.
These are a few of the books on my current TBR stack that I plan to read, but I'm sure I'll get distracted by others along the way.

#bookishspring2017 #day5 #bookwithnameintitle I thought I'd go with an unusual name for this prompt, I'm sure not many littens have ever heard of this book or the name. The name is taken from the Celtic word "caed" meaning battle, Caedmon from the title was an early English poet who lived in the monastery at Whitby, England, which is where this novel is set. I'm having a very Celtic day today.?????
