Joyful, Anyway | Kate Bowler
post image

Just got this #NetGalley #ARC for this #April2026 #RandomHouse release! Seems right down my alley!

After surviving a stage-four cancer diagnosis, Kate Bowler knew she was supposed to be grateful. But still she ached for more connection, more surprise, less resentment on an ordinary day.

So she went looking for joy that sneaks in unexpectedly: A lemur sunbathing. A belly laugh at a funeral. A dive into the Atlantic with a shark wrangler.

Very good. Wonderfully atmospheric and moody. Full of twists and turns. Follows a family that has many secrets that they wish to keep buried.

I loved this book. Four siblings grow apart in adulthood after relying on each other due to mostly absent parents. This dysfunctional family tale is told with a light hand through each sibling‘s eyes and memories. My only quibble is I don‘t think the author stuck the landing with the last chapter, or it just didn‘t work for me 🤷🏻‍♀️ 4 🌟

Pub date is 4/15/25

Good. Full of romance and friendship. Shows how relationships happen when you least expect it in the unlikely of circumstances. Also a must for any book lovers as the authors love for books just shines through. Another wonderful addition to the bibliography of Emily Henry. Thank you #VikingBooks and #Penquin #RandomHouse for inviting me to read this via #Netgalley.

Multiple locked-room mystery scenarios set against the back drop of a plague-ridden dystopian future? Sign. Me. Up. This book was a win for me. The author cleverly wove together the storylines while creating compelling characters. I enjoyed how it all slowly unfolded and came together like a puzzle. #NetGalley #TheDrift #RandomHouse #Ballantine

Very good. Informative and fast paced. Even though going into this book I only had a basic knowledge of the queens I left with a full knowledge which is a testament to the work of Alison Weir. Thank you #Penguin #RandomHouse for inviting me to read this via #Netgalley.

Good. Even though it took a long time for it to get going the pace does pick up and even though it does the ending just comes so suddenly that it just feels rushed. Also even though the setting is at Christmas and set during a production of A Christmas Carol it can be read during the whole year as it doesn't really give Christmas vibes. Thank you #Penguin for inviting me to read this via #Netgalley.

FelinesAndFelonies So jealous!! This one is my first anticipated book of 2022. ❤️ 4y
BoleyBooks @FelinesAndFelonies It‘s a fun read! I‘ll post a review soon. 😊 4y
LiteraryinPA I‘ll be curious to hear what you think about the representation of her disability. Sometimes I worry about authors using autism as a quirky plot point rather than it feeling authentic. But this sounds promising! 4y
