*A social butterfly finds her perspective on life and love changing after she takes a factory job to prove she isn‘t irresponsible.*
LIKES:
~ well-rounded protagonist
~ mature depiction of two people growing apart
~ well-written conflict between opposing personalities
DISLIKES:
~ not enough interactions between protag & love interest outside of work before they‘re setting a wedding date
~ everything got very sappy very quickly at the end

#vintage There is something about the charm of an original edition .I know the contents have been reprinted in another edition that I own.So I paid $4 bucks for it , note the original price on the back.😁Love early New Directions & Ferlinghetti. It was trade credit though.

Very good. Informative and fast paced. Even though going into this book I only had a basic knowledge of the queens I left with a full knowledge which is a testament to the work of Alison Weir. Thank you #Penguin #RandomHouse for inviting me to read this via #Netgalley.

The Chalet School in Exile | Elinor Mary Brent-Dyer

Naturally there are some quite terrifying moments in this book, given that the girls are fleeing the Nazis. Even so, I was struck that it didn't pull any punches in a book aimed at children. Read my review at John C Adams Reviews:

Vansa That was the huge difference i found in Chalet School versus Enid Blyton-I love Blytons school stories but she completely ignores the real world. Interesting choices by both writers! 4mo
johncadams @Vansa There is so much difference, I couldn't agree more. I like Angela Brazil very much, but she's very different to Elinor Brent-Dyer, in part because she didn't write in series but created new schools and characters for each book. 4mo

Good. Even though it took a long time for it to get going the pace does pick up and even though it does the ending just comes so suddenly that it just feels rushed. Also even though the setting is at Christmas and set during a production of A Christmas Carol it can be read during the whole year as it doesn't really give Christmas vibes. Thank you #Penguin for inviting me to read this via #Netgalley.
