The planning of the actual rescue mission of the prisoner of war camp was thoroughly and meticulously researched from several primary sources. A must-read for those who want to know more about World War II in the Pacific.

Many trigger warnings -violence, massacre, torture, starvation.

Very memorable moment was during the rescue - the POWs were so traumatized that they had to be persuaded to leave. It broke my heart.

My score is 11/100 and none of them stands out as a particular favorite. Yes, I‘m counting that I watched The Longest Day when I was eight years old, even though I slept through most of it. Perhaps I‘ll revisit it now that I understand the subject matter more! #TLT

dabbe I say if you were in front of the movie, it counts! 😂 Thanks for playing and sharing! 🧡🖤🧡 3mo

I‘ve gotten behind on posting my books on here. I‘ve been traveling. So the next few posts are a dump of the rest of September books. First I started with this Bletchley series. I really love reading about the women who worked at Bletchley.

This non-fiction book is about the presence of the Associated Press (AP) in Berlin prior to and during WW 2. As soon as Hitler took power and the Nazi propaganda machine started working, legitimate, truthful reporting became scarce. Nazi censors dictated what stories were sent out and what they could contain. This was also true for photos. AP stayed in Berlin until the US entered the war. This book will make you think about freedom.

For #weeklyfavorites, I‘m sharing this fashion history book that I read. This is an ARC that I was approved for. It‘s about the history of fashion during WWII. I don‘t follow fashion or know anything about it but I like seeing what the musicians on music award shows are wearing. However, this book gave me a different perspective that I wouldn‘t normally get from watching those award shows on TV and I found it very interesting.

kelli7990 The song that I feel like fits the vibe of this book is The Look by Roxette because this is a fashion book. Link to song: https://youtu.be/dzrPH89rtWY?si=scuffkTTxDTgWins 5mo

I finished reading the tagged book yesterday while coloring this picture. It‘s a work in progress but I‘m almost finished with it. I still haven‘t written my book review yet. I was busy last night and I didn‘t have time to write it.

I‘ve been making more progress in this book. I listened to some of it this afternoon while I was coloring and then I just listened to another chapter tonight after I got done taking a shower. It bothered me at first that I don‘t have pictures of the fashion to look at but it‘s not bothering me anymore. I‘ve accepted it. Maybe I just needed to color a picture while listening to the audiobook so I feel like I have something to look at.

kelli7990 (Continued in comments) All I had to do while listening to the audiobook was just finish coloring a picture that I already started coloring. I don‘t really follow fashion but I still think the book is interesting. I‘m glad I‘ve made more progress in this book. I didn‘t know if I was ever going to make any more progress. It‘s been taking me a long time to read this book because the chapters are so long. (edited) 5mo
