Today‘s haiku is inspired by the really humid weather we are having & my desire for some cooler days. I want to feel like Fall. 🍂🍁🍂

We went to a big used book sale yesterday and here's the kids' book haul - just look at all those Beatrix Potters! I can't resist a collection, especially at a super great price.
Not included in this stack are a baby shark colouring book and an Aladdin story/etch a sketch combo thing, both of which my kid found way too cool to let out of her hands.

Who knew squirels suffer from paranoia?
Every fall someone steals all the leaves off your tree & leaves you nothing but pumpkin spice flavor lattes? 😢

4 ⭐ Chris Pine did a decent job of writing a kid‘s picture book. He has fantastic rhyming skills, but he needs to practice his cadence skills. Digs an adopted dog, and Zorro the neighborhood squirrel finding their spots in their homes and become friends in this adorable story. However, a reader finds himself tripping over the text because there is no flow. There will be sections of flow in cadence that by the next page is completely gone.

4 ⭐ This book is lovely. While it looks like a picture book it‘s a small chapter book that is fully illustrated in color. It tells the story of evergreen a little squirrel who must go deliver medicine to Grandma Oak. To do so they must cross the forest which is dark and scary and has strange and dangerous things happen. But Evergreen learns that adventure awaits if you‘re only brave enough to take it. This book was lovely w excellent illustrations
I have previously used this book in my kindergarten classroom as an interactive read aloud, followed along by a comprehension extension activity.
The Leaf Thief by Alice Hemming is about a squirrel who counts his leaves and notices one of his leaves is missing. The squirrel goes around and asks different animals if they have stolen his leaf. In the end of this fictional story, the squirrel learns that the wind took his leaf. f.
