The Midnight Folk | John Masefield

I read this Book #1 in the Kay Harper duology in preparation for December‘s #ChildrensClassicRead2024. The premise of the stories is fun, but some of the slang in the book made it a little difficult reading. Kay goes on a treasure hunt in his dreams- ? Or is it in real life?
We‘ll see what Kay Harper up to in his next book- The Box of Delights

tpixie @TheBookHippie interesting! Midnight folk was very interesting. I‘m debating on whether I buy the Kindle edition of box of delights or keep trying to read the free version that you showed us. I might try to see if I can get my iPad working to use the free version that would be easier than my phone…. 1mo

tpixie @Tamra @dabbe Ha! Floof is a perfect description! Her hair is getting long! She‘s going to the beauty shop tomorrow and I‘m going to get it shorter because it gets tangled so easily with her fine undercoat. I suspect she‘ll need to be wearing some Christmas sweaters for a while!! 1mo

Having a crazy work week & I realized I never posted my December #TBR. I meant to have a calm & quiet December but still loaded up 21 books that I wanted to read.this month. 😉 Will I get to them all? Probably not, but we‘ll see where we get to.

Read tonight for November‘s #ChildrensClassicRead2024 This was a cute story & quick read with life lessons told through animal characters. It‘s apparently a series with different animals the lead in each book. It was perhaps a bit “folksy” for me but I enjoyed it overall. 🐿️ 🤎

TheBookHippie It is definitely folksy, LOLOLOLOL - but I did enjoy the little lessons, although I read it with grandson so that made it a bit more fun! I like having the knowledge of it. These stories are talked about a ton here and taught at every private school. I was always curious. 2mo

Okay, I‘m learning to tolerate squirrels more after reading this cute classic. Even if they do sabotage my bird feeders.😆 I was more fascinated to learn about author Burgess who adored nature & spent his writing life teaching children to appreciate all wildlife. He wrote more than 170 books! Plus he was big on conservatism and helped pass laws to protect migrating wildlife.🙌🏻
