And time to bail . . .
#Unpopular opinion time! But this is me, not the book. This book has some beautiful writing but is written in a style that is keeping me at arm‘s length. Each time I read a passage and feel I‘m about to get sucked in, it jumps to something completely different, pushing me away again. I can actually see why so many love it, but after reading half of it, I know I‘m just not compatible with this book.
Exceptionally late review, and probably an #unpopular opinion, but I bought this to continue the series and although I was still impressed, it felt a little rushed, disjointed and just not quite there for me. Perhaps it's the ending, perhaps it's something else. But for me it's 3.5 ⭐. #recentlyread #nospoilers #YAfiction #YAFantasy 👸
#Unpopular opinion: I didn't like it. The writing felt flat and there was a lot of telling rather than showing. The characters seemed more like archetypes than real people. There was a lot of speechifying that I found off-putting. I think the theme was interesting, but it felt to me that the characters and story were in service to it, rather than it emerging from the story, if that makes sense. Thanks for the buddy read @Cinfhen #EoE 👇
I was soooo excited to read this one and it left me feeling a little let down... I expected the twist that came and was just underwhelmed with the entire book... I‘m sure this is an #unpopular opinion!!! I really wanted to love it though!!! 😏😒😞
I was spoiled on one part of this, but even if I hadn't been, I still might only give this a so-so, which I know is an #unpopular opinion. I felt like the underlying plot was so much like so many other YA books. It just wasn't as good as as her Six of Crows, set in the same world, completely different plot and style. #yareads
