Our Tolkien reading group has been reading together for three years! We‘ve been through some changes, from #LotRChapterADay to #YearOfTolkien to now #FellowshipOfTolkien with many different people joining in for a time. The main square shows the books we‘ve read together from beginning to now, the lower left is our current read, and the others around the outside are books I‘ve read alongside. The column on the right are all nonfiction.

JazzFeathers What a great celebration! I'm so happy to be part of this group. This is a journey that is giving me a lot and in so many ways. And l'd have never done it alone. Tolkien was right, the people who travel with you make the journey 😊💙 4y

Daisey @Riveted_Reader_Melissa Yes, it really adds up when you read consistently. I don‘t think I‘ll be able to fit another year of reading into a single graphic. 4y

Today is the last day of my week's focus on finishing books that I left unfinished. Today I picked u othe shortest book on that stack, and I have not idea why I thought this would be the quickest one.
I rememeber why I struggled with this back when I was attempting the #YearofTolkien

Finished up this read for #HistoryofLOTR & I am sorry to say that I did not enjoy this one very much. I've enjoyed the Histories, but this is not one of my favorites.

JazzFeathers The Notion Club Papers are hard and slow going, but tge end of the History of the Lord of the Rings and the evolution of tge story of Numenor were fantastic, in my opinion 😍 4y

All caught up again, felt like I was never going to make it to Part III.

Although The Notion Papers were interesting, I‘m always going to think there is so much more there going on just below the surface that had a lot to do with the members of The Inklings and some of their personalities and foibles seeping over into this story as fun academic teasing.

OK... I love Tolkien with all my heart, but I'm currently feeling very thankful that he abandoned the Notion Club Papers in favor of finishing LOTR. Some small bits are kind of interesting, but for the most part, I am just really not enjoying this 😴

Daisey I‘m not far, but I understand what you mean. There are little bits that really speak to me and other sections where I‘m struggling to stay engaged. 4y

It definitely feels more of a great group brainstorming what-of session, less of a great read, in my opinion anyway...so great if you were there, not so great as a story to just read....and I‘m not sure all the footnotes help either, this might be one of the few cases where they make it more confusing sometimes. 4y

I loved these variations on Sam‘s life in various Epilogues.

Sam‘s always been my favorite character and I love seeing him settled and telling the story and answering the questions of his own children who are just as persistent as he and his friends were at the beginning of the story.
