I finished this a few days ago and man oh man did it live up to the hype!!

A story of love, loss, and heavily centered on generational trauma and family secrets. It was a very interesting premise but the pacing was really off and made the story feel choppy, which didn't match the whole fact that storytelling is a major plot point. I did enjoy the way the author brought up colorism, racism, and how younger generations tend to have to break family cycles. All in all 3.5/5.

This was an engrossing, beautiful and emotionally charged read. Feyi felt like a friend who was navigating a new chapter of healing and growth and I was with her in all of the mess that comes with. The way that grief, love, loss, anger, lust and new beginnings are written is enough to take your breath away!

Absolutely gripping! This was a beautifully written story about families, generational trauma, and folklore with unreliable narration that left an ache in my chest. The Yaga siblings/family were written with such quality that I feel everyone will be able to see a bit of themselves and their families in them.

Although it was a little slow at first and Anastasia annoyed me a bit, this book won me over as I kept reading. I absolutely fell in love with Nate, Stass and the whole hockey team! It was cute, it was fluffy but the spice? If you like a vocal man, you'll love Nate Hawkins lol. I was rooting for the main couple and loved to watch their relationship blossom.

While the book was very different from the movie, it was also very similar in all the ways that matter! It still has a cozy fantasy feeling with a lovable cast and the snark from Sophie and Howl. While the plots were fairly different, there were a lot of similarities. As a huge fan of the movie, I really did love reading the book it was based on. 4/5

It was a wonderful retelling of one of my favorite books! Modernization without Anne losing her essence that has made her a beloved character, plus LGBTQIA+ themes and a sapphic storyline! I love the way that Anne was shown such unconditional love and support while grappling with fitting in, being teased, self-image, and sexuality. As well as the use of gentle parenting techniques by Matthew and Marilla!

A very short, sweet, cozy fantasy read! Gorgeous artwork with the wonderful message of not judging people before you get to know them.

This was an incredibly gripping thriller! I couldn't put it down and finished about 90% of it in one night! There were a few aspects that were a little predictable but the storytelling was so good, I didn't mind.

So I am DNFing this one. I can appreciate the premise and the author's writing style and social commentary, but this just wasn't for me. There were many times when I actually dreaded picking this up to make progress so that combined with some of the topics discussed by the MC made me decide to put this one down. I would like to try something else from this author however, she has a talent for making you feel like you're inside the book.

Even though this was a pretty obvious JonBenét Ramsey case retelling, it was still enjoyable! A little predictable in some parts and I did get annoyed with how often the MC left her uncle (who has dementia) alone, but the storytelling was good and there were even a couple twists I didn't see coming. 3.75/5

This was an enjoyable, light read with a lovable cast of characters, interesting plot and a setting based in Latin American roots. There was LGBTQ+ representation, found family tropes and strong warrior women! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I can't wait for book 2!

The first half of the book was difficult to get into and did drag on a bit, but by the second half, I was sucked in. The madness in the name of organized religion corrupt two men to do horribly unspeakable things was incredibly fascinating and heartbreaking. As a Latina with Mayan heritage, learning of my ancestors pain and suffering while also reading of the generational trauma it has passed down was very emotional..

A perfect little "slice of life"/holiday episode novella. It really gave the reader a nice check in with the characters and see how life is progressing post Hyburn. I appreciated that Maas doesn't make it seem like everything is all okay, she shows that there is still hurt and healing to happen.

A perfect read to kick off fall! This book was like a comfy sweater. A cozy romance with a found family trope, diversity and witches!! I enjoyed every moment and I think it may just beat out The House in The Cerulean Sea for my favorite book of the year!

This was only okay for me. The second half was better than the first. In theory, there was a diverse cast of characters, but they weren't fleshed out well and seemed all the same at the core. I would often forget who was who. In the second half, they suddenly seemed to get personalities and identity, but then it was over before we really got to know them. I did like the ending, but as a fan of The Bold Type, I must admit that I was disappointed.

I had really high hopes for this after all the hype on Booktok, but it ended up being only okay. The premis was very interesting and it gave "Howl's Moving Castle" but evil hotel vibes, however the execution was really lackluster. I didnt feel connected to the characters and sometimes even forgot who was who. The plot felt rushed and the magic system felt both vague and convoluted. I did enjoy the ending and the last 1/4 of the book!

While not as good as ToG in my opinion, this is a very imaginative and intriguing retelling of Beauty and the Beast. A reread for me actually but my initial read was so long ago, I couldnt remember anything lol. I am interested to see where the series goes! It did feel rushed in some areas, but I can understand why from a plot standpoint.

The epitome of cozy fantasy! This had all my favorite elements! Found family, LGBTQ+ romance, unique characters, and overcoming adversity. This felt like Miss Peregrin's met A Series of Unfortunate Events, added in a bit more fantasy and made it for adults. One of my favorite books of the year!

A beautifully written fantasy based in Chinese mythology! The tea based magic system was not only unique but very fascinating! While the pace of the story could be a little wonky, I was still gripped and the cliffhanger at the end has me looking forward to the sequel! This book has competition, politics, betrayal and posion!

This was actually a pretty good read! I thought it was going to be predictable but I still ended up being surprised at the end. Unreliable narrator, plot twists, murder, scheming and a small heist made this very fascinating! 3.75/5

This was exactly what my book hangover after this series needed! Jumping back in to revisit some of my favorite characters and some puzzle pieces to bring everything together, as well as break my heart a bit more lol. It was interesting to go back and see just how far the characters really have come!

The conclusion to the series was also my least favorite. Like the other two books, it didnt really get good until the second half but even then it wasnt until the last 100 pages that I really enjoyed it. There was a couple of surprise twists at the end that redeemed the book and bumped it up to a 3 star instead of a 2 star.

Holy cow! The conclusion of the series has left me with a book hangover! The emotional rollarcoaster that still has me in a chokehold even though it's over. This was both heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time with a well deserved ending. You can barely catch your breath as you root for your favorite characters and hope they will be spared. 5/5!!

After finishing Neon Gods, this was my next pull from my TBR jar! 😁

Incredibly spicy, but not to the point of being overdone! The characters had depth and were very well written. You find yourself invested in the love story and rooting for Hades and Persephone. Perfect book to introduce me to this genre :)

This was a beautifully written and gorgeusly illustrated book! It was a rollarcoaster of emotions and would definitely make a beautiful anime or tv show. While it could be somewhat slow in some parts, that could also be because I was trying to tandem read with another book. For the beautiful and emotionally charged story, this is one that I definitely loved!

The third installment in the series did not disappoint! With a cast of new characters (both loveable and not), new places with new challenges, massive character developments, plot twists and an absolutely heart breaking ending.

In my opinion, I do think that where the book lacked (supporting characters and world building) the show made up for and vice versa. Where the show lacked (the slow burn romance and honestly most of Daphne's personality and relationship with her siblings) the book definitely made up for. Lady Whistledown was much more of a fixture and driving force in the show I felt. I did enjoy this though and will read the rest of the series!

While starting a re-watch I remembered I actually did buy this! I had to switch A Deadly Education to audiobook, I am having a hard time getting through it 😬 So hopefully this will satisfy me in the times I really need a physical book to read 😁

I really liked the magic system, and the premise was very intriguing, but I do wish it had been fleshed out a bit more. It felt slightly underdeveloped. The story telling felt a bit choppy and the romance felt like it developed really fast. However, Clara and Sang were very cute. All in all, a cute read but probably not one I will reread.

Fall is in the air and I am READY!! This felt like a perfect read 😁

Colleen Hoover has knocked it out of the park again! A wonderfully written novel filled with raw human emotion. Had me on a rollercoaster, but left me satisfied.

I loved this book! Funny, witty and very "Jane The Virgin-esque"
