So now I am starting on the Throne of Glass series. I enjoyed reading the novella bind up. It was an easy read and an interesting way to start the series. I rated this book a 4 out of 5 stars.

Each novella‘s fine, and overall the book works fine, but I spent the entire time thinking about how awkward it is to read a set of novellas in the middle of a series of “regular” novels, even though I can‘t defend the argument that it should be read first…because if you read it first, you‘ll know too much to be surprised about the ending of the 2nd book. So, in the wise words of my old lit professor, this book is [AWK].
Well, finished this today. Another entertaining read. Do I just keep going with the series or take a break and read something else? We‘ll see what I‘m feeling tonight when I go to bed and want to read.
Just finished this!! Not sure how i loved an assassin, but she (the assassin) was sooooo likable! 👏🎉
I enjoyed this book so much. It gives a great lookout into what Celaena endured before she was sent to the Salt Mines and then to the Glass Palace. The horrors of what happened to Sam. This book has so much going on and will give you lots of the feels.

5⭐️ I think I gave this a lower score, though, not by much, the first time I read it. But going back and re-reading it, I realize that for me, it is a five star. I feel that I was truly with the FMC throughout the entire book. Maybe this is because I read the whole series and have already made a connection with her. I don‘t know why, but I love the story, and it ripped my heart out every time. 😭 If you know you know.
TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY! 🥳🎉🎉🎉 It is an absolutely gorgeous day, with lots and lots of sunshine! Currently, I am at the park with a little picnic lunch, and of course a book! I couldn't ask for a better day! 💕📚
I really love being a librarian! 💕📚 Some days are better than others, obviously, but on days like this I am just filled with bookish joy! ☺️ The Throne of Glass series is super popular, and I'm always replacing the library copies with new ones, usually one at a time as they get worn out - so I just ordered a brand new complete set for the library! They arrived today, and I'm so excited to see them! Now they all match, and look so lovely! 😍
I sobbed like crazy.

Reading this book 3rd is the definition of dating someone who you know will break your heart. I still don‘t regret reading it third though, otherwise Idk if I would have had it in me to like other new characters and continue on with the series. This is a great book. You get to know Celaena and what led her to become who she is in book 1. I do not think I will forget its last chapters any time soon. It made me appreciate my life and those I love.
I‘m on the very last story of The Assassin‘s Blade novella; I‘ve heard I‘m about to have my heart ripped out. Even though I know how it ends, I‘m not sure reading the details will be enjoyable 🥲
Go through all these novellas that made up the Assassins Blade. I can see where it said to read this prequel after the third book. Yet - YET - these would have been such a better introduction to Celeana‘s story in the Keep. This explained her plight more than “book 1”.
Underground novella was not a favorite of them, but it still showed quite a detail in who Celeana is as a person.
“‘My name is Celaena Sardothien,‘ she whispered, ‘and I will not be afraid.‘”
#January2024
My library has almost all the short stories separate. Or at least, with less time as the whole book of all has a 24 week wait. So no issue reading these #sjm
Desert: I liked this one. The idea of the silent assassins and the Mute Master… incredible mystery at the end. Also, HORSES!!
Empire: wasn‘t too into this, as I already knew where it was going. Yes, it ached to know that. But it also didn‘t let it really sink in. Until the end. Just damn
I started another novella from THE ASSASSIN‘S BLADE after I finished tonight‘s novel. I‘ve been rereading one every time I finish another book this month. Hopefully I‘ll manage to do a full series reread by the end of the year. Throne of Glass is uneven, but when it‘s on it‘s ON.
Starting a buddy read with @Kaylaapps to begin reading the TOG series -finally! 🤩
Let‘s just say it was so good I immediately grabbed the next one in the series. 10/10
2.5⭐️s
I‘ve only read the first two books so far before trying out this prequel. I‘m struggling with the series. I have book 3 in print but haven‘t been able to get through it, so placed a hold for the audiobook at my library.
Current #weekendreads:
Listening to the #audiobook of The Assassin‘s Blade
The Only Plane in the Sky is a #buddyread w/ a friend
Just started the #arc of The Taken Ones and I‘m devouring it.
@rachelsbrittain
Finished this one this weekend as well! I liked learning a bit more about Celaenas story and background and really liked the short story format this book had. I know everyone has their preferences on when you should read this book and I‘m glad I read Throne of Glass first personally🤷🏻♀️ Onward!
A collection of novellas that take place before the 1st book in the series. I loved seeing more of Celaena's history, including her relationship with Sam & the other events that brought her to the beginning of the 1st book. I think the writing style was closer to Throne of Glass, & I didn‘t enjoy it as much. The characters felt simpler & I missed the depth I found in the 3rd book. Read it if you love the series, but it‘s not a good place to start.
February pick 2023 Reading bracket
I read this book as an intro into The Throne of Glass series. It was a great read. I suspect another great series is awaiting me 😁
I'm diving right into my next fantasy series. This is the 1st book in The Throne of Glass series.
YA. Prequel to Throne of Glass. Learn why Caelena Sardothian, the assassin's darling, was betrayed & by whom. I didn't like Caeleana's character and found phrases such as ".. a smile tugged at the corner of his mouth" as overused & worthy of an eyeball roll. This is the first Maas book I have not liked. I don't think it added to the series, but I may find her getting revenge on her betrayer more to my liking with this background knowledge.
So apparently, I have an unpopular opinion, but I really enjoyed this book. Possibly because unlike others, I read this one first. Also, this is my doublespin, so both are already done for February. @TheAromaofBooks
Took me a bit to get through it. It wasn't my favourite. It was pretty slow. The last section kinda made up for the rest of the book.
I am really struggling with this book. I was told I need to read it before I start the rest of the books. Is it really true? I would love to just drop it and start the rest of the series.
Going to start this series. I have read this authors other books and enjoyed them. I was told to read this series also.
Suuuuuch an amazing series!!! 🥹❤️ Highly recommend the series!
Finished 'The Assassin's Blade' and have started 'The Book of Goose'. Unpopular opinion, but I'm not a massive fan of SJM's writing.... but I generally fall in love with her characters. However, I just didn't really get Celaena, for such a badass, she was oddly immature and naive, blundering through her adventures in a self-obsessed and shallow way...but maybe that is supposed to reflect her age and allow for dramatic character development 🤔
Saturday morning- Lily's riding lesson means mum has time for coffee and my book. I'm not sure about this so far .... does it get better???? 🤔
“This girl wasn‘t like wildfire—she was wildfire. Deadly and uncontrollable. And slightly out of her wits.”
Oh my god!! All of the little stories and seeing a massive part of Celeana‘s backstory had me right in the feels !!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The ending kicked me right in the feels. 🥺
I‘m working on getting out of my reading slump and thought this series would help. I‘m getting there.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
So read the first story in this completion and loved it but it was recommended by @Meshell1313 that was I read Heir of Fire so I‘ll get the series first then read the others 🤗📖 but I like it so far so excited to get a new series to read
Uh question should I read the throne of glass series first ?
This was exactly what my book hangover after this series needed! Jumping back in to revisit some of my favorite characters and some puzzle pieces to bring everything together, as well as break my heart a bit more lol. It was interesting to go back and see just how far the characters really have come!
There is absolutely nothing wrong with this book. The stories are exactly what you expect from SJM's world. I just don't care. I've read the books, I don't need to know the backstories. Plus side? Don't these pictures match perfectly? 😍

Good thing we got what we needed before the snow started. No fun it being had outside today 🥶
Journaling and audiobooks on this stormy night it is!
Listening to the tagged book and getting in touch with my inner chemist. The boy is not getting any better and is now completely filled up with cold so I'm making some feel better sleep sprays for his pillow in the hopes that the aromatherapy will help him find some relief to sleep. The mix of Eucalyptus, Bergamot and Lavendar should provide some calming and soothing vapours for him 🤞🤞
Anyone else use oils at home? Suggestions welcome!
Starting my reading of the Throne of Glass series with two four star reviews! Throne of Glass was so much better after having read The Assassin‘s Blade.

When it's a crappy, rainy day and all you want to do it read but someone won't let you sit down (thanks Tiny Terrorist) and your teen steals your earbuds and won't give them back (jerk) you improvise!
Managing to get supper in the slow cooker, finally use up those bananas I've been avoiding tossing out, got cookies on the go AND a few chapters in? I'll call that a superpower
