They take her from remote islands to hostile deserts, where she fights to liberate slaves and seeks to avenge the tyrannous. Explore the dark underworld of this kick-ass heroine and find out how the legend begins in the five page-turning prequel novellas to the New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass series.

So this happened today I swear I only going for the first three books lol. I own all of them but they are in storage and I really want to read the series. I had to get Heir of Fire on my kindle because the last person to check it out lost the book and my library has yet to get a new copy. #TOG #SarahJMaas

I‘m always scared to read companion books before they were meant to be read and accidentally spoiling something that happens later in the series, so I tend to read them AFTER all the main books in a series, but in this case I think the payoff of reading this is greater the earlier in the series you read it. So read this EARLY!!! BEFORE you get to KoA (I like a certain someone). Was pleasantly surprised by the story quality, a great collection.

I noticed my TBR shelf is getting a little too full, so I need to get reading, and I realized I do have all the books for the Throne of Glass series.

Does anyone have a recommendation as for when to read The Assassin‘s Blade while reading the series?

Also yes having a mix of hardback and paperback drives me a little crazy but if I like the series enough, I‘ll work on getting one type! 🤪😅

Lovesbooks87 I started it first but I couldn‘t get into it. So I put it aside and then finished it when I was done with all of the books. I didn‘t feel like I was missing anything from the story by not reading the complete book before the other books in the series. 2mo
Ash.on.the.line @Lovesbooks87 thanks so much! 😊 i didn‘t know if there was a certain point where it would work best. That makes sense though, and probably what I will do! 😁 2mo

I am officially done with the Throne of Glass series. I wish this book would have drawn me in at first when I picked it up when I started the series so I could have gotten the whole back history of Calaena. But I am glad that I came back to it when I finished all the other books. Now for the 1st time in 9 days I am going to have to try to figure out what to read next!

I would leave furniture behind before I would leave my books! I like the way Celaena thinks! 📚🙌🏻📚🙌🏻

marleed I recently made an across state move where I was paying based on weight. I donated every piece of furniture that was no longer part of my story. ... I also donated a pile of books. But the fun in that is that I‘ve thrifted for even more books since setting up my new residence! 6mo

I had a hard time getting into these stories. I think jumping into them in the middle of the series was a bad idea because it doesn‘t seem to satisfy me. I also believe if I started the series with this book I would not want to continue on with the series. In the end I love this series and while this anthology is not all that gripping it‘s still back stories to a main character that I care about. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lovesbooks87 I started with this book when I started reading the series last week and I only read half of it and had to put it to the side and just start with the other books. Just didn't hook me. Hoping once I am done the series I will be able to finish it! 6mo
Bkwrm7 I had the same problem with this one. I think part of the problem is that, knowing how it's going to end, it is so unrelentingly bleak watching the betrayal as it happens. 6mo

Just so you know my order, I've read the first 3 in the series already. I knew this was a prequel but I was so happy and surprised to learn the stories Celaena mentioned in the previous novels. I loved learning more about Sam but I was not prepared for the relationship between her and Arobynn and where it ended before she left.

This was really slow for me.The Underworld was my favourite. The sexual tension between Celaena and Sam was driving me insane so FINALLY something was happening! I am a HUGE sucker for a really good romance, so yay! Overall, I‘ll give the book 4-stars because the story wasn‘t too bad, the romance was good, and it made my heart REALLY HURT!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“The Assassin‘s Blade” may be the prequel to the Throne of Glass series, but it is just as important and heart-wrenching compared to the other novels. This book is a fantastic insight into who Celaena Sardothien was in the beginning, and how her adventure started. Despite a few grammar errors, Maas certainly knows how to rip your heart out into a million pieces. We did not deserve Sam Cortland and I‘m definitely bitter right now.

He was dead.
Sam was dead.
She wouldn't leave him like this in this cold dark room. She climbed onto the wooden table and lay beside him, stretching an arm across his middle, holding him close.
The body still smelled faintly like Sam. And like the cheap soap she'd made him use.
Celaena buried her face in his cold, stiff shoulder.
She wouldn't leave him.
Celaena closed her eyes. She wouldn't leave him.
She wouldn't leave him.

I wasn‘t disappointed! A lot of others told me this was going to be a hard one to get through. I found that to be completely opposite! I love Sarah‘s writing and am completely dragged in, even if it‘s just a few pages of reading. I read a novella a day but could have finished it faster. The Red Desert was my favorite of all 5. The only thing i can‘t get past is how Sarah pick all these names that are hard to pronounce and then she had SAM! 😂

When I set out to start the ToG series the comment I got the most was that Assassin‘s blade was the hardest to get through, I am finding that to be false.
