I am absolutely in love with the story and art style of this book!

Garlic is just so adorable and yet courageous to have gone on this adventure that has been forced upon her by her "friends". With nothing more than a will to listen and by being her kind self was able to figure out what she needed to do to help everyone.

Adorable story about facing your fears, being brave and resisting prejudices and catastrophizing. Garlic is a very relatable vegetable and has a sweet supportive friendship with Carrot. When the vegetables fear that a vampire has moved back to the castle, Garlic is chosen to vanquish it despite her misgiving.

Books about overcoming fear, doing what you fear and going on journeys.

I loved the autumnal feel to the color palette and the coziness of these graphic stories.

This seems familiar. I‘m also a heavy sleeper, and at times I have been told that I‘m impossible to wake

I just love these illustrations. All autumnal and cozy

Adorable! Turns out my aversion to anthropomorphized food doesn‘t extend to foods with a logical creation story. 😜 A sweet tale of bravery, friendship, and the perils of making assumptions. Oh, and gardening. 💚

This is a nice story about prejudices and overcoming them. I would have liked a deeper story but since is a book for kids it was okay. The drawings are beautiful and the isea of using vegetables as characters is a interesting one as well because this way Garlic can march to face the Vampire. 😜

Smoke comes from the abandoned castle, “something TERRIBLE must be in there.” - Yeah, sure, first thing that comes to mind. 🤣🤣🤣

i'm very late on posting the books i finished in june '23, but 'twas a solid month.
the garlic & the vampire/witch duology is everything. 5 stars, no notes, more please.
4.5 stars for cultish and uprooted.
4 stars for let your hearts be light, glitterland, and tea at the end of the world.
3 stars for never have i ever gone skinny dipping.

Highly recommend starting the weekend with a graphic novel.

Cute, quick read about overcoming fears for the good of all and learning that people (vampires especially 😉) may not be what they seem.

Did I read a book about an anxiety ridden garlic bulb who tries to fight a vampire? Yes I did. Was she the most precious little garlic bulb to ever exist? Yes, she was. All the fluff, and all the hugs.

Pungently Cozy, Warm, and Sweet ☺️

GARLIC FEELS AS THOUGH SHE'S ALWAYS DOING THE WRONG THING

No matter how much her friend Carrot and kindly Witch Agnes encourage her, Garlic just wants to tend her own garden, where it's nice and safe.

But when the village of vegetable people learns that a bloodthirsty vampire may have moved into the nearby castle, they all agree that, despite her fear and self-doubt, Garlic is the obvious choice to confront him.

What a cute graphic novel for middle graders about overcoming one's fears. I already put a hold for the second book at my local library ;)

Who knew I would love a story about the adventures of a bunch of vegetables?
This was adorable. The story is amusing and I love the illustrations.
Guess that means I might need my own copy. 🤔🤣

This is a painfully adorable book where the lives of a witch and her sentient fruits and vegetables are interrupted when a vampire moves to town…Garlic gets voluntold to face the vampire on her own…what will happen?? You‘ll get a cavity because of the sweetness. For me, it was nice but not my overall thing…so I won‘t be borrowing the recently released sequel!

This was too cute! Garlic was very relatable, but Carrot was freaking adorable 😍 very sweet story about humanoid veggies and a vampire, not judging people before you know them, and being brave. Really loved the art in here, too!

4.5⭐Garlic is just one of many vegetable that were given sentient life to help the witch run her garden. All of them are a bit anxious, & Garlic is constantly late. She has a tendency to bump Celery or their table, and while it's an accident it does not endear Garlic to Celery. One day while in the garden the veggies see smoke coming from the castle in the distance, and they all worry that vampires have come to their town and will destroy everyone

Saw this on NPR‘s books of the year, fell in love with the cuteness, (love garlic), had to have it. This book is so stinkin cute. A town of fruits and vegetables lives and works together and sends Garlic to investigate the new vampire neighbor in the castle nearby. This story is about being brave, being yourself, & that some new strangers aren‘t as scary as you might think. I think there‘s a message too, that being vegetarian is a good thing.

This was so freaking adorable! Perfect cozy autumn reading. 🍂🧄
