I like that this book is a nice twist on what it's like on the first day of school by bringing the school buildings to life. In this book actual school buildings are having first day jitters. "Ms. Bixby's Last Day" by John DaVid Anderson. When I read this book. I thought of every teacher that has every made me feel important. "Madeline's Rescue" Written/Illustrated by Ludwig Bemelmans. Madeline books are classics that I would read all the time when I was younger. This particular book is one of my favorites. "Make Way for Ducklings" by Robert Mcloskey. This book is so cute! As I was reading it. I had flash backs of hearing this book being read to me when I was young. Basically this women named Mrs. Mallory and her 8 ducklings are on a journey to the Boston Public Gardens, but they may need some help getting there. "The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate" by Jacqueline Kelly. I have to say this was an interesting book. I'm not really into science and nature stuff but this book was good. "Brown Girl Dreaming" by Jacqueline Woodson. This book was amazing, so beautifully written. "Brown Girl Dreaming" is about the authors Woodsons childhood. Raised in South Carolina and New York . Woodson has always felt like only half of herself was home. Woodson talks about what it was like growing up in the 1960s-70s and the Jim Crow laws and the Civil Rights movement.
