"We study history not to know the future but to widen our horizons, to understand that our present situation is neither natural nor inevitable, and that we consequently have many more possibilities before us than we imagine."

"There is nothing anyone can say to haul me away. I have to do it myself, crawling back from the lip of the crater towards all that I love in life, while knowing that I have to loosen the grip of everything I hold most dear. I am not afraid of dying. What I am afraid of is saying goodbye." - The Museum of Words by Georgia Blain
"I've got it, he said. It: the shorthand we all understood. I said I'd never leave his side."

Currently running a little poll over on my Instagram about which book I should read next... 👀 'No Way! Okay Fine' by Brodie Lancaster seems to be winning at this point.

"The final nail in the coffin of my yearning was their worry that the city was too dangerous, a concern that frustrated me, immeasurably, because I knew where danger really lurked - in the woods behind well-manicured exclusive suburban neighbourhoods, at the hands of good boys from good families."
There's a brand new book haul video on my YouTube channel! 📹 A few weekends ago I was invited to the Australian Booksellers Association conference by the lovely team at @loveyourbookshopday. It was amazing. Find out about all the books I was lucky enough to get my hands on by clicking the link in my bio ☝️

The first of the month signals the start of #bibliophilebabes book club discussion for Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi. I've been completely captivated by this historic tale that spans nine generations, two families and a multitude of countries, cultures and time periods. I still can't get my head around how Yaa Gyasi fit so many well-developed characters and stories into 300 pages - just pure genius.
Nothing beats rushing home, bursting open the door and ripping into an LGBTIQA-filled package of books from the lovely team at Granta. Happy #PrideMonth! 🌈💃👨❤️👨👩❤️👩

You know a book is going to be good when it starts with either a map or a family tree 🙄

"The doors are heavy, they demand a push with the shoulder and, like the best of us, they swing both ways."
"To be a woman, you must struggle, like the ballerina struggles. You have to work hard. It is painful work. And when you do it right, it will look effortless. But where we're different from dancers, my sweet, is that we will never be applauded for getting it right."
