What an excellent book! The narrator is phenomenal at bringing Maddy Banks‘ story to life! As someone who struggles with mental illness (though not bipolar) it‘s always great to see stories feature an accurate portrayal of it. It can be a hard book to listen to at times (*trigger warning* there‘s graphic descriptions of cutting) but a worthy one. It makes me feel sad to think of those who suffer that don‘t have Maddy‘s resources & familial support

This one has been on my shelf since 2016 & with the upcoming film adaptation & sequel to this 1, I figured I needed to read it! I really enjoyed this one! One of the better of Ware‘s books. There was only 1 part of the book where it stalled for a little bit & I liked the ending so I‘m eager to see why this 1 warranted a sequel. I found Lo a likable character & was satisfied w/the ending. A solid 4 maybe 4.5 stars!

Just finished the audio! I love Lange‘s books! What a beautiful family drama that is so realistic. The writing is so good & the characters so rich you get sucked right in! It‘s my 1st time listening to one of her books & the narrators did such a great job! I look forward to what she comes up with next! Her books would make great mini series! I wish her books would get adapted!

Read this 4 book club. I haven‘t read Thursday Murder Club (TMC) series yet, but plan to on audiobook. Idk what Osman‘s style of writing is in TMC but at times here it came off as trying too hard to be funny or maybe I don‘t have the right sense of humor. It was overall enjoyable & I liked the characters enough although at times there seemed like too many. I would read the 2nd in this series, but don‘t think I‘d buy it. I‘m eager for TMC though!

It took me a couple hours to feel invested in the story but once it did I was intrigued. This is definitely more of a soap opera like book & there were plenty of twists. I haven‘t read the author before so I‘d be curious to read her others. Not the best thriller I read as the only sympathetic characters were the main character & the kids. It makes for a thrilling listen overall.

This wasn‘t one of my favorites, except for the parts with Amelia. I‘m glad she came back. The main storyline about the will & inheritance I didn‘t care as much for, but liked how everything turned out in the end. It‘s still a Pick because no matter how tedious parts might be, it‘s always resolved at the end in the way you come to expect from Penny. I‘m eager for the next one to see what becomes of relationships between some of the characters.

My 1st read of 2025! If this was the final book in The Housemaid series then it was a good one! It was nice that the suspicion was on someone other than Millie in this book. There were still plenty of twists! I didn‘t see them coming. It was interesting with the time jumps in this series. You should like it if you liked the previous books!

This was my last read of 2024! A good short story to add to the world of The Housemaid! It was nice to have a little POV from Enzo. If you like The Housemaid books, you will like this addition to the series. I read it after reading the second book The Housemaid‘s Secret. Will Millie survive her wedding day? Find out!

I think this one may have been even better than the 1st one! I was really blown away by the big twist! I was surprised by the time jump between this 1 & the 1st 1 but it made sense in the end. I read this book in a day! I liked Millie‘s maturity & restraint in this one but she‘s still the Housemaid we know & love. I‘m eager to read the next one!

Another great thriller from McFadden that I read in a day! I really do love her books. If you‘ve liked her previous books you will like this one too!! This would make a great movie or mini series. I‘m eager to read the remaining McFadden‘s on my shelf!

There‘s a lengthy interview between the author & audiobook narrator at the end of it which I always enjoy! I was kind of stumped throughout this one bc the structure of it was different but as always I‘m glad when it gets towards the end and Gamache lays everything out for the reader. The cobrador stuff was a bit much & didn‘t care much for the newer characters. So I‘m glad I got through this one. Still a solid listen though. 4 stars.

So I started this book a year & a half ago & then put it down but I always remembered where I was in the story so this holiday break I picked it up to finish it & I‘m glad I did! It‘s interesting to have a mother-daughter relationship at the core of the thriller. I thought it did a good job balancing between the 2 narrators & what happened in the past & present & the twists along the way! I highly recommend this one!

3.5 stars rounded down on Goodreads. I didn‘t really care 4 any of the characters but after a twist near the end maybe that was the point. I generally don‘t read books focused on those suffering from addiction but the premise sounded really good so I gave it a shot. But the pacing wasn‘t consistent & several times almost lost interest. I was able 2 finish it & the story concluded well but I felt indifferent 2 it. I wouldn‘t read the author again.

I really enjoyed this book so I‘m a little confused by the lower Goodreads rating for it. This is for mystery thriller book club at the beginning of January; it should make for an interesting discussion. Some of the revelations were predictable but some weren‘t and it was an easier read. Definitely an interesting premise! If you read the book synopsis & thought it sounded good, I‘d recommend you read it. You‘ll probably like it!

I listened 2 this 4 book club. I wouldntve read it on my own, as I‘m not a fan of magical realism. It was listenable but I‘ll admit I wasn‘t fully engaged w/ it the whole time. It was just odd. I know the environment is an important issue but I feel there were other ways 2 tell that story. Grace was a likable character so I kept listening 4 her; it was nice to go on the journey w/ her. I‘m not sure I understood everything but was able 2 follow it

Just finished listening to the 12th Louise Penny! I‘m really enjoying these stories as I go through the series. This one had an interesting premise, taking place in Three Pines and the Police Academy. It was good to see Gamache working in some way again with the police & interesting to see how the 4 cadets in this book grew over time. The reveal of the murderer was done well. If you‘ve read the previous books you‘ll like this one!

I read this for book club. At 1st I didn‘t think I‘d like it because of the Elizabethan era, but as I kept reading it I got really invested in Emilia‘s character in the 1500s timeline & was eager to see what would happen next! If you like historical fiction, you should like this one. The timeline set in current times is good too! It is interesting to be presented with a story that shows how Shakespeare didn‘t write the works credited to him.

This 11th installment of the Armand Gamache series is one of the better ones. I enjoyed the mystery presented and the history involved including of the super gun. I loved the touch of espionage to it. If you liked the previous installments you will definitely enjoy this one. It‘s always interesting when new characters are introduced but they‘re supposed to have been there the whole time. I‘m eager to continue this fascinating series!

This was an interesting installment of the Gamache series. I probably got to know more about the fictional art world than I ever wanted to know. I was surprised by something that happened in the end and wondered what led the author to make that decision. This was the last of the series narrated by Ralph Cosham. If you liked previous books in the series you will like this one except maybe the end, but I personally didn‘t mind it.

This was definitely a brilliant installment in the Armand Gamache series! So much going on! If you‘ve read the previous books you will like this one! I was so pleased with the ending! I thought this had a good balance of the case being solved and the background plot coming to the forefront. I am eager to read the next one!

This made for a good listen even though I kept mixing up the names of the Monks. This story was more about Gamache‘s and Beauvoir‘s relationship which I‘m absolutely fine with! Even though it was one of the longer ones, it kept me engaged & listening! I‘m really enjoying this series and am eager to see how the next books turn out!

Finished this @ the Tampa airport while I was waiting for my flight home! A very cute novella! I love Molly‘s character! I‘m eager to read the new Maid novel coming out in April! I don‘t think you need to read the previous 2 books to follow it, but I definitely recommend them bc they‘re so good!! I have a soft spot for Molly bc she is on the autism spectrum (although it‘s not specifically stated) like me!

Finished it this morning! Liane is a must buy author 4 me! I was very excited 4 this premise! It‘s a thick one but it reads quickly w/ short chapters & switching POV. You‘re not sure where it‘s heading at first but just keep reading. I‘m typing this as I‘m ready to get on a plane. I hope no one predicts my death on it! (Knock on wood!) I‘ll be eager to discuss this one at book club! I just hate that I‘ll have to wait a few years for her next one!

This one was enjoyable enough! I liked the story happening between Gamache and Beauvoir. It‘s something how murders keep occurring in the village of Three Pines 😂. I went through this one fairly quickly. Features a lot of artists which isn‘t a topic I‘m interested in per se, but it was still really good. It doesn‘t have the tension that Book 6 has which was almost disappointing. I‘m eager to continue the series!

Finished this last night. I flew through this book in a few days! I really enjoyed the writing & pacing of the story! I will admit I predicted a lot of what happened but it was still an enjoyable read. I really liked the characters Elise King and Kiki Nunn. This is the 2nd in a series but I don‘t think you needed to have read the 1st one in order to enjoy this one. I‘ll eagerly wait for the next one!

I listened to this for book club. It‘s an important story, but I don‘t think I was the intended audience for this. It‘s important to listen to stories about alcoholism & drug abuse across BIPOC communities & see how the traditional methods for recovery may not be the same for them as it is for white people. Jessica‘s story hopped around some & was a little tricky to follow chronologically. I‘d read this to open your eyes on the topic if so desired

This was the best 1 yet! There were multiple threads throughout this 1 & 1 of them being very thrilling which I enjoyed & was a nice change of pace! I found myself waiting to get to those parts! It was interesting to see the investigation into the death of the hermit by the 2nd in command & how he situated himself into village life while investigating. There‘s a bonus interview with the author at the end of this audiobook! I‘m eager 4 the next 1!

This is the 1st Kate Quinn book I‘ve read & I really enjoyed it! The really long chapters took a bit to get used to but it was nice to spend so long with each of the characters. I definitely didn‘t see the end coming! I‘m eager to read more of her books now!

5th in the series & so far this is the 1 I have enjoyed the most! I‘m eager to continue the series. I liked that there was more focus on the investigation earlier on. Even though it was the longest 1 yet, it didn‘t feel that way while listening! If you liked the previous in the series, you will definitely enjoy this 1!

Wow! A powerful memoir! I watched coverage of the case back when it happened & I didn‘t know what finally led to her release & this book cleared that up for me. I thought it was excellently paced & tells the events of each step of the judiciary process she went through in her own voice for the audiobook! I‘d have also been interested in hearing what her life after Italy & her imprisonment was like.

This made for a good listen! It was nice to learn more about Peter and his family. I thought it was a way to switch it up from always being in 3 Pines. It was a lot of new characters to keep up with which can be challenging when listening to it. I didn‘t really have much of a reaction to the whodunit aspect. I enjoyed the dysfunctional family dynamics in the Morrows. As always Gamache solves the case with grace and intelligence. Eager for number 5

Finished this for book club! This is an interesting variety on the true crime podcast storyline seen in mysteries/thrillers! It was interesting to learn things as Lucy was trying to remember them herself. There were some interesting twists. As usual a brilliant Detective Annalisa Vega novel from Schaffhausen! I enjoy her books so much! The perfect mix of character development and mystery/suspense. This is the 4th one & there will be a 5th! Is there such a thing as a good sociopath? That‘s what this book will make you wonder! If you‘ve enjoyed the other books in the series, you will enjoy this one!

This wasn‘t as good as his latest Long Time Gone, but still a solid 4 stars! I thought revisiting a murder case that hadn‘t been worked on since right before 9/11 was an interesting premise! There are twists throughout it! I enjoyed the short chapters. I was definitely surprised by one twist later on in the story. If you‘ve read his other books, I‘m sure you will like this one too!

This was the best of them so far! It got intense w: Gamache & the fallout of the Arno (spelling? I listen to the audio) case. I find this series overall slow paced compared to the thrillers/mysteries I usually read, but I really enjoy as the pieces come together & Gamache solves the case. I don‘t really find myself caring about the residents of 3 Pines I hope that doesn‘t make me sound terrible! I‘m much more interested in the police parts/mystery

Oh how I loved this book!! It was so nice to see Lily and Atlas together and happy! Ryle was just so angry in this book! If you wanted a follow up to what happens when Lily and Atlas bump into each other at the end of It Ends With Us, this is definitely it! I‘d be curious to see if they end up making this into a movie too!

What a great, suspenseful story! I listened to the last half of the book just yesterday alone! You know a book is good when you‘re looking for excuses to do things around the house so you can listen! It was also the 1st time a book was so gripping I just sat down & did nothing else but listen! There was a lot of time and POV switching but I wasn‘t confused at all. I will definitely be reading more of Donlea‘s books! I highly recommend!

This was so good! I experienced a lot of anxiety reading it bc I was so worried about Daphne! There are twists and turns along the way but not a major twist like in the 1st book. If you liked the 1st one you will definitely love this one & getting to see the characters again. I recommend reading the prequel The First Shot bc a character featured there is a major character in this one! I‘m eager to hear everyone‘s thoughts on this one!

I definitely enjoyed this 1 more than the 1st one! It was a great listen! I know there are a lot of characters & the switching POVs still confuse me at times. I feel I don‘t have a good grasp of all of the detectives featured. I‘d assume I‘d keep listening & it would be easier but I‘m unsure. I‘m going to keep listening to them though!

I read this 4 book club & I have mixed feelings. Some parts were really engaging & other parts dragged. I‘d give it 3.5 stars. I thought it could‘ve been shorter. Definitely an interesting premise! A woman must keep moving (literally) so a curse won‘t kill her! I could tell that this was a 1st novel. I‘ll be eager to see what people at book club have to say about it! This was a quick listen! The narrator did a great job! It has the typical twists & turns you come to expect from McFadden. I didn‘t really know what to expect until right before the epilogue. Monica offers to be a surrogate for Abby Adler & her husband but what are her true intentions? I‘d recommend if you have liked McFadden‘s other thrillers!

Another great thriller from Freida McFadden! It was a great listen with lots of twists & turns! I definitely didn‘t see the end one coming! I liked how the narrator changed her tone & inflection of voice between the two POVs so that you knew which character it was. Another thriller set among a bunch of moms in suburbia & it was entertaining. If you‘ve liked her other books, you will like this one! & the end is a total shock!

This was a page turner! Another hit from Alex Finlay! I got through this in a day! I love how the different POVs come together. I‘ve seen the author speak several times & he says he writes to entertain mainly but this book also showed (albeit severe) consequences of things done when you‘re young and dumb. It would make people think twice if they‘re cruel to someone. I definitely recommend this one! A quick suspenseful read w/some deeper meaning!

This book was really good! I really liked the cast of characters & my favorite was 10-yr-old Henry! Henry was me as a child! When Ethan was 10 his bff Billy was taken from Ethan‘s backyard in the middle of the night. 30 years later Ethan is back at his childhood home & odd happenings occur. Is Billy somehow back? And what about the mysterious institute that‘s close to home? This was well paced & I was satisfied with the ending! Again I love Henry!

I really enjoyed this!! A world where vampires exist but they‘re not your stereotypical vampires. The book does a good job of establishing the rules & facts about them. I enjoyed Barbara as the detective in this story. There was mystery & suspense until the end. The only other book I‘ve read by the author is The Chalk Man which I also really enjoyed! This made for a great listen! I‘ll be eager to get to more of their books!

The 1st I‘ve read of this local author & I liked it! Definitely heavy on the horror descriptions at times but still a compelling read. It‘s for my mystery/thriller book club. Reminiscent of other stories where someone is summoned back to their hometown. There‘s past & present storylines & loved all the descriptions of Maryland. I‘m unsure if I‘d read more by this author just because of all the horror even though yes I realize that‘s the genre 😜

Oh how I loved this book! I read it 4 book club. There‘re 3 POVs: a young woman who inadvertently kills a woman in a drunk driving accident & is sent to prison; the woman leading the prison book club; & the widower of the woman that was killed. They all converge in an independent bookstore in Portland, Maine & it goes from there. One thing I didn‘t like was a cliche plot line; otherwise this book is perfection! I highly recommend it!

I listened 2 the 1st book in the Gamache series & perhaps bc of that I had problems following at times. It changed perspectives so many times it was hard to keep track. I think I‘ve been reading/listening to just thrillers that it was challenging to listen to a slower paced mystery. I liked the reveal at the end & more of the pieces came together. I will give the 2nd in the series a chance. Most likely on audio.

At 1st I didn‘t see what all the hype was about but then really liked it! I could see where some may have issues w/ the book. I read it bc Blake Lively is going to be in the movie that comes out in August & I love her & wanted to see what the hype was about. Now I can‘t wait to start the sequel! This was a good, suspenseful Freida McFadden thriller with its twists and turns! Amy is a medical student who will be in a psychiatric ward for one night. What happens will thrill and shock you! This audiobook was a great listen & it went by quickly! I hope you enjoy it!
