Number 16 in the series, and I'm not getting even a little tired of these characters and stories! This one takes us to Paris, which was a fantastic change of scenery. I loved getting more of Gamache's backstory and finally getting to explore his relationship with his son. Loved it! September's #Doublespin @TheAromaofBooks

This was a nice change of scenery, it taking place in Paris, France. It was nice to see more of the Gamache family dynamics w/ focus on his son Daniel. The action in this one really picked up towards the end. I‘m excited that I‘m almost caught up in listening to this series. If you‘re a fan of the series, you should enjoy this one too!

Sometimes when I reread a book, I like to change up the mode. If I read it the first time, maybe during the reread I‘ll listen. It brings out different aspects of the story, especially with a mystery. For example, when I know whodunnit (if I remember 😜), I can pay more attention to how the characters interact and so forth.

LOVED getting back into the world of Gamache with this Louise Penny. Set in Paris instead of 3 pines, I was on the edge of my seat through a lot of this and enjoyed reading a book that just kept me gripped. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

1. It‘s a nickname for Susana which is my name in Spanish. One of my coworkers started calling me that several years ago, and it stuck.

2. Walking, driving, doing housework, playing with the cat.

3. I just finished the tagged audiobook last night, with hours to spare before Libby reclaimed it.

I did my #hyggehourreadathon in two parts tonight. The first part was listening to an audiobook during my walk, and the second part was listening while chilling on the couch.

Louise Penny is my go to author when I feel a slump coming on. I don‘t often re-read the later books in this series, but decided to give this one another go. The scenarios in the later books get a bit unhinged, but in the best possible way. I missed the Three Pines crew though.

Progress in the #Gamache series - finished bk 16! Very much enjoyed this mystery set in Paris instead of Three Pines. Change of scenery (a break from the Pines residents) plus lots of Gamache backstory + of course descriptions of Parisian food! A personal crime leads to corporate espionage (which gets complicated). Was engaging and one of the fastest reads in the series for me.
Plus I love how much we see Reine-Marie and her investigative input!

This one kept me guessing. I have stumbled upon many French & French-Canadian mysteries lately. With search engines & algorithms, someone is doing their job by keeping them in my feed. Ha!

I was so close to the end when I had to get off the treadmill and get ready for work, 13 minutes to go! So I finished it on my commute home. Tomorrow I start the next, but I‘m getting close to running out of them. 🙀

@monalyisha - we currently don't have an election coming up in my area of Canada however there is a group of veterinary professionals from my work traveling to Costa Rica to spay and neuter 500 animals (they are going to an area where vet care is not accessible). Loved this one! There was a lull for me in the middle of the series and this one and the previous ones were so so good. Can't wait for the next one!!

Gamache and family in Paris. What‘s not to like?! The mystery is exciting, as the scope of criminality grows bigger and broader, and the stakes are very high. Themes of family, trust, love, forgiveness, sacrifice, and letting go are interwoven throughout. I listened to this on audio, and it was well done.

A detective mystery set in France that could have benefited from a character index. A little dull. Not for me. ⭐⭐

A fresh perspective for this series, taking the Gamaches to Paris and involving the entire family in the mystery of why their godfather was struck by a car in a hit-and-run. I did find the ending a bit convoluted, but that could have been Xmas brain talking 😆

Not my favorite of the series. I felt a little emotionally manipulated by this one, and that never puts me in a good mood.

Heads up Louise Penny fans. Great deal on Amazon today. 👍🏻

Paris is a tough town. At least for Armand Gamache and his family. As they await the birth of another grandchild, all hell breaks loose around them. Who can they trust? Who is trying to kill them? There are angels, devils, ghosts of WWII, blackmail, secrets revealed, murder, so much more. The ending was possibly too neatly tied up with a bow, but I‘ll take it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Despite not being set in 🌲🌲🌲 AND involving corporate crime, I enjoyed the tangled mystery itself. I didn‘t enjoy the personal melodrama, which this time seemed excessively sentimental. I missed Ruth & Rosa! 🦆

In this installment of Louise Penny‘s series, Gamache and his wife go to Paris to visit their children and their children‘s spouses. Of course there is a mystery but there‘s also a thread about Gamache‘s son being jealous of the Inspector‘s relationship with his son-in-law.

From what I understand, this book takes place exclusively in Paris instead of Quebec. I think it‘s still okay for #CanadaDay though!

One of my specific reading #goals this year was to carry on with the Inspector Gamache series and be ready to read the next book when it comes out later this year. So far I‘ve read 11-15, and the tagged book is 16. I‘ve put it on my #bookspin list but might just read it soon anyway!

My first Louise Penny novel! A lovely well -paced mystery story set in Paris with Chief Inspector Armand Gamache. So fun and I hope to read more of this author!

This was great. Not in Three Pines, but the wonderful city of Paris (still a lot of food and drink!).
Great storyline and loved the family background.

Started the tagged book this morning. The others are demanding my attention the rest of the week at the moment.
All change again in the household this week. Hubby starts a day job. Nearly a year after being furloughed, made redundant and 5 months of nights in a temporary job. 🤞🏻🤞🏻

And in a week, I blew through 3 installments and I‘m all caught up on Gamache & Three pines.
Which only makes me sad because now I have to wait 🤷🏻‍♀️

This is just such a great cast of characters. Penny has done such a great job bringing them to life.

And to think I only stumbled upon this by picking up a mid-series paperback in a Little Free Library ♥️

On the 11th day of Christmas my true love gave to me...

I‘m always worried Louise will start dialing it in, but I loved this book as much as the others in the series.
