Blackout by John Rocco is a RF story that would be a good IR. It is set in New York City and a blackout occurs. While the city is usually busy, things finally slowed down during the blackout. Blackout by John Rocco was published in 2011. It is a children‘s award- winning book. The book is based on a family that is extremely busy but then the power goes out and no one can do anything! The neighborhood hangs out together until the lights go back on and then everyone goes back to normal.

“A party was going on there too. And no one was busy.”

I used to love when the power would go out as a child. I thought it was so much fun all the games i would get to play with my family because of it. This was a nice book that sparks good memories

Blackout by John Rocco was written in 2011. This book brings feelings of nostalgia as the reader looks back on the times when the power had gone out at their house and you‘d have to find ways to pass the time. The illustrations are also beautifully done and remind me of Van Gohs Starry Night.

“They found the lights”

I enjoyed the moment when everyone was outside and had nothing to do but just enjoy each other‘s company.

This book provides a life long lesson that all the technology and electricity take away from the community aspect of a city. I really enjoyed the illustrations and the simplicity of the book. This was another one of my favorite books I‘ve read.

Everything went back to normal... but not everyone likes normal.

The illustrations in this book were so well made and interesting. Really made the story even more enjoyable.

Blackout by John Rocco was written in 2011 and is an award winning book. This book was super interesting and had a good message. We are all so caught up in all the things we have to do, but sometimes we need something to happen to draw us out of it like the black our in this story. It kind of showed how everyone was having so much more fun without their electronics and I think today that is a huge part of our world. Good message for young minds.

A super cute family oriented story. I think this is a great story and I found myself with a huge grin the whole time I was reading!

I love the illustrations in this book and the overall vibe of it. The little girl wants to bring her family together and in the end she achieved that goal.

This Caldecott winning book is a super sweet and sentimental story about how a family who gets caught up in the day to day rush is reminded of how great family time is once a blackout hits their city. I think this is a really sweet book that would appeal to a lot of different age groups! I loved this story.

This award winning book written by John Rocco is a great piece of literature. It has beautiful illustrations and a great story. The story of a town that has a power outage and everyone comes together as a community. This comes from the pov of a little girl and how she feels about the blackout.

We need to slow down, and not take each others time for granted.

The children award winning book, published in 2011 by John Rocco was amazing! This book hold the truths of today‘s society, and show the importance of interpersonal relationships- and how we can get so wrapped up in our own worlds. With technology being so prominent, the story shows that we need to slow down and focus on the things we may seem to take for granted. The illustrations also are very ‘Vincent VanGouh”-y as well, making for a great read

Blackout is RF. One night in the city the power goes out leaving the family with no television, no phones, and no computers. What are they going to do? They head to the roof and see that a block party has began...
I believe this would be a great Read Aloud.

Beautiful deep blue coloring. Makes it soft on the eyes and pleasant to look at!

The first few items that stood out to me consisted of the colors used and the texture of the pages. This was a very pleasant read that had a joyful, heartwarming storyline. This book is written for ages 4-8 and I believe that is just right. It has a comic book style to it (few words, blocks of scenes rather than whole page images). A fun read focusing on spending quality time with loved ones.

I remember when our electricity would go out due to a storm and all I wanted to do was go outside and catch fireflies because they looked so much brighter!

This book was written in 2011. The illustrations are extremely vibrant and have the urge to draw an audience in due to the cover. As the darkness approaches, the views of the bright stars appear. This helps the reader to continue the adventure in the dark setting. This book would be fun to read in a fort with all the lights off!

4⭐️ This book has amazing illustrations. It is a simple story about the busy lives that are slowed down when the power goes out. People find time to have fun, and enjoy something rarely seen when you live in the city: the stars.

This old favorite never gets old. 💕

The power has been out for an hour now - after a very strange evening of thunder, lightning and rain in the Bay Area. In September! My boys had fun reading by torchlight!

This! The Art & Message!

Well, this certainly changed my evening plans. 😕 I was going to cook dinner and read one of my new Christmas books. At least I have a new title available on my nook ready to go, and I guess I will be looking for someplace open for takeout.

Apparently I'll be reading something on my kindle tonight, since the power is out and I've yet to unpack a flashlight or any candles but this one... I was really looking forward to watching Mo Farah run too...
