It‘s a fun suburban romp through the secret lives of an east coast neighborhood. Suspicion, breaking and entering, paranoia, sex, burner phones, a techy teen, and coffee…these broads drink a shit ton of coffee in this book! They are caffeinated and activated! Read this book in a day, it‘s fast and a solid who-done-it thriller. Bon appetit!

Took me a while to go through this one because I felt it was a slow start and life was busy. But once I got to the half way point it started to pick up. Lots of suspects so I felt it was a lot of twists. Looking forward to reading more by this author!

A fast paced thriller mixed with suburban drama. This was an easy read and full of twists and turns but ultimately hated the ending. While I would recommend for anyone who likes thrillers and for the most part had fun reading, it ended up being a bit of a let down and a weird epilogue. Hence middle of the road for me. #bookspin for January

5feet.of.fury I haven‘t read this one yet, but that‘s how I feel about all her books 😂 1y
5feet.of.fury Was the plot good? Not really. Were the characters likable? Nah. Did I immediately devour it nonstop? Yes. 1y

Sargar114 @5feet.of.fury it was my first read of hers, given to me by a friend. Absolutely devoured but yeah definitely not likable characters and the resolution was pretty disappointing 1y
5feet.of.fury @Sargar114 the twists always hook though, she‘s always a go to for me if I get stuck in a reading slump. My favorite of hers was 1y

This book is the definition of a page-tuner. The writing isn‘t as poetic as I typically like, however the plot really keeps you on your toes, which made this book an entertaining, quick read for me.

" ‘This is a very difficult letter to write. I hope you will not hate us too much. . . My son broke into your home recently while you were out.‘ “

I put a post out yesterday (June 5) asking whether reading prologues & epilogues is optional. Littens have spoken: prologues & epilogues MUST be read at all times. Court is adjourned.👩🏾‍⚖️

This is the second book I have read by Shari Lapena and I really like her style. It was a good neighborhood thriller. I was able to piece together who the killer was and I was quite proud of myself, but I didn't guess all of the little specifics. The book provided a great pool of suspects.

Overall the story was an interesting one...misdirecting the reader like what...and the outcome of the mystery was satisfying, well, satisfying enough anyway. But the very end...the last 5 minutes of the book...what was that? I didn‘t get it. I don‘t know, maybe I missed something...did I miss something…???

This book makes a compelling argument to NOT make friends with your neighbors. I really enjoyed all the twists and turns of this book, the only flaw is that Amanda never emerges as a real person. Her motives, her desires, all are seen through the lens of others. I would have liked a little more about her. Still, a great thriller worth your time! Book 10 of 2021

This was a quick read and a fun murder mystery.

One teenager is breaking and entering into houses, another is excessively drinking. We slowly discover that both of these boys fathers were having an affair with a woman who turns up dead.

Her husband becomes the easiest suspect but what if it‘s not that easy?

Honestly I could have dealt without the epilogue, and this was another book where I unfortunately predicted the ending halfway through.

Oh, how I love a good “Desperate Housewives” style suburban murder mystery. This book had it all. Some characters that you sympathize with, or could imagine yourself being friends with. Others that annoy you and even some that give you the creeps. Everyone‘s hiding something. Everyone‘s protecting someone. Everyone‘s a suspect.

Another solid tale of suspense by Shari Lapena. Not as captivating as The Couple Next Door, but a great tale nonetheless. When a women goes missing, then is subsequently found dead. Everyone is her neighborhood is concerned, gossipy, and guilty? The killer is clearly “Someone We Know,” but which one?

Geemom1118 She has become one of my favorites. She knows how to throw a curveball in there. 4y

This was a fun listen, although I will admit that the constant drama and the jumping bedmates got somewhat tiresome. I had no idea where the story would end up leading and did change my mind a few different times when it came to trying to figure out who the murderer was. I‘ll definitely be reading (or listening) to more by this author! 🌟🌟🌟

Betrayal, neighbors, panic, and murder. To me, it was like a well-worn soap opera and I figured out part of the ending early on. The only way I could get through it was to listen to the audio at double speed. I will say it‘s quite amusing to listen to melodramatic people at 2x the normal speed.

I am up to page 78 in this book (that is chapter 11) I am loving the dual mysteries within one book that is enjoyable, I am also enjoying that this book takes place across the pond ( in the US) where as Turn of the Key takes place in Scotland and how different these two authors sculpt their mystery! Its been enjoyable.
