The MC is supposed to fit the charming bad boy trope, except he‘s not that charming and he‘s not that bad.

Soft pick, but I did end up enjoying it.
I liked Enne and Levi, but it took me a while to care about their tension. As for the world building, alternate Las Vegas the money is volts, certain people hold certain powers some of them make you better at gambling, or dancing, or acrobatics. A little silly & the villains and politics were kinda meh, but I might continue the series and see if it picks up steam.
Oh my goodness, I really loved this book. I started it and was hooked read it all in 3 days. I could not set it down. I've already started the second.
Technically I‘ve already finished this but I didn‘t take a replacement picture. Still I loved this book and can‘t wait to read the next one!
I‘m trying to reacquaint myself with my TBR while on a book buying ban for the month.

Finished this late last night. I loved this one. A fun magic system and interesting characters. Definitely going to pick up the next one! #bookspinbingo
I was trying to come up with prompts for the #tbrdeckofcards challenge, but 52 is a lot. And I was thinking about Schitts Creek, my most favoritest show, and how there are 13 episodes in each of the first 4 seasons, for a total of 52. So I'm gonna use the episode titles as my prompts. So like the episode "The Drip" will have to have something wet on the cover. "The Cabin" will be something outdoorsy. I'll figure them out as I go. ?
@Clwojick
Starting the break off with a new series :) I'll update progress !!!
Enne goes searching for her mother in New Reynes and gets more than she bargained for and teams up with Levi to get answers.
The writing was alright but I wasn‘t particularly feeling this book. If I come across the other books in the series I might pick them up but I‘m not in a hurry to continue this either. Mostly predictable and just, again, felt meh.
#currentlyrereading | Ever read a book & then, two years later, think: “I wonder whatever happened to those characters...”? 😂
#AmandaFoody is one of my favorite authors. I fell in love with her creative story writing, unique character development and mafia #GodFather gangster novels. I'm waiting to get #QueenofVolts 💟 If you like authors who pull you into a story and keep it going, these are for you. I hope her series becomes a television or movie, there's such unique world building too.

My first book for #LitsyAtoZ was this YA fantasy. It was okay. I liked the Las Vegas-inspired setting and how the protagonist solved her own problems. The story didn't blow my mind, but Ace of Shades was a not-too-demanding read during a very busy week back at work. ⭐⭐⭐
@BookishMarginalia
My flight is delayed so I'm nursing a pint and making a start on #LitsyAtoZ with my first book of the challenge - Ace of Shades 😊 @BookishMarginalia
#LetsTravelJuly #Shade This is on my bookshelf, but I haven't read it yet.

A fantastic, bold, original story. Foody has created strong characters and an unparalleled world of corruption. Close to being 5 stars, I'm giving it 4. It took me longer than anticipated to finish because of all the details and it seemed to drag on a tad. What an entertaining ride!
Already up for hours. #audiowalk with my daughter, I cast my vote in the EU elections then we got fresh rolls.
Pictures show my daughter's school, where the ballot room is, and our "bread" tote (Books turn Muggles into Wizards).

#audioexercise this morning. Kids are still asleep and the #ShadowCat woke me at 5.20am by throwing flower pots from the windowsill. 😬

Took an #audiowalk around the former granary buildings while my daughter was at dance class. First outing of the year for my red converse. Rain and a thunderstorm coming up.
The granary buildings have been repurposed and now offer office space, a boulder centre, art studios,...

Such a fabulous read! There were a few overused tropes, but I loved the magic system and the Vegas inspired world. And it is so refreshing to see a girl who isn't afraid to be feminine! Enne is the beautiful badass we all know and love! Puts on her lipstick, her heels, and is ready to attack! #aceofshades #amandafoody #goodreads
My new read! I have never gone this long without reading. I need to get back in the game!

Fantasy. Romance. Mystery. An EPIC surname. What more could you want?
This kept me engrossed the whole time! I‘m infatuated with these characters and I ship the main romance SO HARD.
I was blushing, smiling, laughing, squealing in anxiety, and stressing out the whole time. Yet, I‘m not kidding when I say it was an enjoyable experience.
Can‘t wait for King of Fools on the 30th!!
Trying something a little different before I start my book club pick.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book!
It wasn't quite what I was expecting but I'm not complaining
Looking forward to starting the sequel 😊
Saturday morning ritual
Book, coffee and the latest episode of Greys.
I hear amazing things about this book and I scored an #arc of the sequel so I guess it's time to see what all the fuss is about 😊
I absolutely love the world that Amanda Foody creates in Ace of Shades. When I saw that this was marketed as Six of Crows meets Caraval, I knew that I was going to have to read it. I will admit that I didn‘t think Levi was as well written as Kaz, and the diversity felt a little bit forced to me, but the concept of blood and split talents saves the book. Not to mention the history with the Mizers and the Shadow Game and that mysterious guide book?
Im so excited for Amanda Foody to come to the TBR and Beyond group PLUS! I need to reread this for King of Fools coming out
I keep blacking in and out (went home sick) but luckily I got this on the kindle daily deal, bc I‘m so tired I literally can‘t hold a book 🤧 I‘m hoping I can finish this before I pass out again #tbr #sickreading #kindle
Treats I got myself at the thrift store today after my last day of school!!! Two Wizard of Oz books...they both go to different series I am collecting and I‘m super excited about Ace of Shades!! This book was recommended to me a few times and it just came out this year!! I was shocked to find it at the thrift store today but happy! ❤️❤️
I feel like I‘m posting a LOT today😅 oh well! Anywhooo, I‘m going to start this tonight as part of my #OwlCrate #backlog ! So far, I only have 3 more OwlCrate books to read to be caught up in 2018! (Still have some from 2017, but shhh) I‘ve heard great things about this one so: let‘s play, shall we?🎲
I really loved this one. So much fun to read! The characters are enjoyable and there‘s a dangerously exciting vibe.
2⭐'s. I'm not sure why but I just didn't like this book.
