A New York Times best seller, this biography brings attention on women who deserve recognition for their mark in society. No matter what they faced these women throughout history came out on top. This Ra or IR would be good for a lesson on history of other historical women figures. Udl:7.2 El:4 #ucflae3414f17

This RF is a pick for me ! Creating visuals for this pb would be a great story telling craft for the class. udl:1.2 and EL:46 for the crafty side of class. This story is great for learning chronological order of the sequence of everyone in the napping house. Couldn‘t get any cuter for a bedtime read as well! Awards a golden kite medal this is a must. #ucflae3515f17

Didn‘t you ever wonder what your “it” was ? Well in this B story Linden can‘t figure out what his dream or purpose is, and his brother tony tells us about how his family and linden held faith and figured it all out ! This is useful for students who don‘t know what they want to grow up and be and are unhappy about it! The Udl: is absolutely 9.1 and EL: promoting positive thinking and ideas. This is a NY Times winner and NAACP! #ucflae3414f17

This P pb, as we spoke in class poetry is an acquired taste that may diminish over time, and this story is a fun way to engage students into poetry with an RT to have participation. The Udl I would use is 3.2 and El:36 http://study.com/academy/lesson/frederick-by-leo-lionni-lesson-plan.html #ucflae3414f17

The Giving Tree | Shel Silverstein

Surprisingly I never read this story as a child! So close to dr.seus and it just slipped right past me! THe giving tee is a P with a strategy of AS, this is how you find out the correlation to dr.seus but a different author! The giving tree is about a boy who takes away from the tree so grants him anything to make him happy, until he realizes all he ever truly needed was just the tree when he has the stump in front of him! Such a sad good lesson!

Who knows why she swallowed the fly in this TL. Winning a Caldecott award this story is perfect for a rhyming lesson and to go over phonics of words with the class and add a little humor! A perfect Pr or Ra this story goes over the sad outcome of the lady who couldn‘t stop swallowing strange things and everyone in her belly was concerned! Udl: 6.3 EL:46 to discover new ways of creating the pattern. #Ucflae3414f17

An all time favorite story of mine that my brother would always read to me! A little boy and his gang of monster buddies explore the forest and let their imaginations run wild! The dot is a great RF with a PR strategy for students. This story is perfect for an art teacher or any teacher trying to prove a positive point to her class. Here we see a teach who shows a girl to go for it and to never doubt herself until she keeps trying. “Make a mark” were the words to inspire this “non-artistic student”. Udl:9.3 and El: to engage a positive mind set #ucflae3415f17

This F is best used as an RA due to teaching students the lesson behind it. I was excited to add this to my pb after a bookboost introduced this series as well as what do you with a problem. An independent publisher just to show you about there own great idea success. These stories are so relatable it will help student figure themselves and concepts out! Shhhh I stole this story from another Litsy! It caught my attention when I noticed it was the Macy‘s day parade in NY which I can make a strong connection to my hometown, NY and I know who to thank now! This NF takes you through Tony Sargs idea that just kept growing into something magnificent! Orbis Pictus nominated in 2012 is a great way to RA and introduce Turkey Day to the class. Udl:6.4 EL:16 by showing a clip of the parades profess!

This encouraging SF picture book is about a hedgehog engineer who one day is offered the chance to go into space for his Dog coworkers who were to large for the rocket 🚀 Jan Brett loves animal themes and this was perfect to fit anyone who thinks they can‘t do something to always keep your fingers crossed and work hard. I became excited when a classmate read this in class I had to go out and read it to my niece! An inspiring story about Humpty dumpty‘s climb to reach his goal on top of the wall. This is a great way to show kids to always get back up and try again! This TL would be perfect for a S or RT to see his “climb”. UDL: 3.1 of background of the original tale. EL: 4

JordanHull I loved this text when read aloud too, great pick! I liked your UDL because I wouldn‘t have even thought that the story has to be read after the original. I might have assumed they already knew and then the story wouldn‘t have been as impactful. Great post! 7y
CaseyL I‘m glad my storytelling inspired you to read this for your Litsy! This is one of my favorite books now! 7y

This F written by Mo Willems is a laugh! In class this could be a great CR or S! I was so engaged when a student came around and had us always “tell the pigeon NO!” So that would be a great form of CR as well. Whatever you do don‘t let the pigeon drive the bus is the premise of this stubborn pigeon. UDL: 7.3 and EL: would be 16

It shows how Auggie struggles and overcomes many things at his school only to put a smile on your face. This novel is a great choice for students Incase they are ever bullied for something about themselves and how to look at the silver lining in life ever when you want to quit! RA and LC best fit this style. ESOL:8 UDL: 6.2

The girl who drank the moon was a very interesting F or TL book with a SSYRA. Although I did enjoy this book I feel it should be a higher level of reading. This story talks about a witch who takes children sacrifices from a town of elders, the twist is that she is a good witch! This book would work greatly in a class with LC as I did in this class! Or IR with a reflection. For ESOL I would use :25 and for UDL I would use 6.2
