I couldn't really bring myself to give this book a poor rating, even though the later half of it was a bit hard to swallow. It's not terribly fun sitting through a book featuring a girl being unrequitedly in love with a guy who isn't good for/to her, with me shouting at her all the while to just move on. Otherwise, the characters were wonderful, the style was great, and the plot was cute.

This book took me entirely by surprise! As a retelling of Romeo and Juliet, I expected melodrama and a laughably avoidable tragedy. What I got was a heartbreaking look into the effects of long term grief and loss, set in a world filled with mysterious magic and well rounded characters, and a sweet romance to top the cake! I highly recommend this gorgeous book.

A book with a lot of potential that was half baked. I wanted more about Jukai forest, the yokai, the members of the Black Clan, and more evidence that Mariko is actually as clever as everyone says she is. Even the style of the book suggests sentences were removed from it in chunks. Nothing is followed through with and everything, especially the romance, is rushed. Hoping the sequel is better.

Howl's Moving Castle is one of my all time favorite books, and the movie is one of my all time favorite movies! I can't think of one as better than the other. They are so unique and beautiful and fun!

The Remnant Chronicles is one of my favorite fantasy series ever! Fantastic characters, lots of tension, a gripping romance, mystery and adventure and magic! Someday I'll have to reread this series. Until then, I'll just admire these gorgeous covers.

Two spies are tasked with making the same girl fall in love with them so they can report her secrets to the company that has kept them imprisoned their whole lives, but they end up falling for each other instead! I feel like this book had sooooooo much potential, but the dialogue was very wooden, making character interactions mostly unnatural and hard to invest in. That's my main complaint I think, but the worldbuilding was also a bit thin. 2/5
