I can't get enough of this book! It's magical!
Beware: for I am fearless, and therefore powerful.
So this is very long and a bit of a trek through the story of the Russian Revolution but it is also an epic story of love, loss and family. It genuinely made me feel a lot of different things towards all of the characters. Definitely worth the effort!
Absolutely engrossed in this book and never want it to end!
WH Smith's are selling these stunning anniversary 'yellowbacks' at the moment. There are seven in the collection and they look incredible #yellowbacks
Finishing up this gem for #readathon one of my new fave books ❤️
About to start my first #oursharedshelf read! This one has been on my shelf since I was 13 so a good reason to actually read it!
Not a bad read but I was a bit disappointed as I feel it could have been amazing 3⭐️ review on seeorange.wordpress.com
5⭐️ Absolutely incredible, moving tale of female identity and motherhood. Must read for this year!
Loving this book! It is full of the stories of remarkable women which I was never taught in school alongside beautiful illustrations. Absolutely wonderful ❤️
Inspired by recent events in the world I've decided to make Feminist February a reading challenge: to read books with intersectional feminist values and learn more about the issues they deal with. You can read my blog post on it at seeorange.wordpress.com. These are the books on my TBR for the month #feministfebruary
Brilliant - touching, funny, sad and utterly poignant. Nothing could capture the current political and social moment better!
"The books transported her to new worlds and introduced her to amazing people who lived exciting lives."
This was such a fantastic and compelling read, definitely worthy of the Booker shortlist and currently my favourite to win!
Reading Emma on my second trip to Bath for Literature Festivals 📖
Finally finished my English Literature MA! So happy that I spent the last three months studying such exciting novels: Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train to name a couple!
About to see The Ruby in The Smoke performed at the Ed Fringe! It had been a wonderful week and a bit of fantastic, thought provoking and awe-inspiring shows!
Finally started reading my book after the midnight launch yesterday! So far it has made me laugh and nearly cry - I can see how the play will be incredible!
Talk on Domestic Suspense at Harrogate Crime festival with Paula Hawkins
Reading this gorgeous new edition one of my favourite childhood stories before bed, before I see the new film adaption!
Giving serial reader a go with Middlemarch, so far I can see various pros and cons but I'm going to stick it out and see what it is like!
This was a really interesting exploration of madness. The style was personal and anecdotal making it entertaining but sometimes difficult to follow and engage with. It was a refreshing voice however and I am glad I persevered as it got better as I went on. I would definitely recommend!
Excited to be at the Crime Story festival in Newcastle, solving an original crime written by Paula Hawkins (author of The Girl on the Train) specially for this event!
Cheeky birthday treat with the graphic novel that has been on my wish list for a long time!
Poetic words from the incredibly talented Emily Bronte - today's trip to the Bronte Parsonage has made me realise just how brilliant and accomplished these sister were!
Wise words before his time - Thomas Hardy born on this day 1840
This was interesting but I couldn't decide whether it felt like a rehash of Falling Man or an extension of its ideas. The first half was dense but that's the atmosphere he deliberately builds. It is still incredibly clever and thought provoking but not as much fun as White Noise.
Super hyped to be going on a nerdy break in Stratford-upon-Avon in July to see all things Shakespearey!
A retelling of The Tenant of Wildfell Hall this book was utterly brilliant in capturing the core idea but updating it to a modern setting and making it relevant in today's world. It was gripping, entertaining and did justice to Anne Bronte's original work.
Commute reading: love DeLillo and hope this lives up to my expectations!
Exited to start reading this retelling of The Tenant of Wildfell Hall for my Domestic Noir research!
