A bit of a slow start. Definitely took me a while to get into it. And I absolutely predicted pretty much everything before it happened, but I enjoyed it and will read the next one.

“Because I don‘t care what anyone says or how often or winningly they say it: no one will ever, ever be able to persuade me that life is some awesome, rewarding treat. Because, here‘s the truth: life is catastrophe. The basic fact of existence—of walking around trying to feed ourselves and find friends and whatever else we do—is catastrophe.”
I got this book because it was supposed to be a dark romance with beauty and beast vibes. They must have meant dark as in gothic because it was very pg. BUT I absolutely loved it. Steve West is one of my favorite narrators. It was full of beautiful words, stories, and I was caught up in the tale.
I throughly enjoyed this book. I clicked play without knowing anything about it and I was sucked right in. I didn‘t put it down.
Is there any possible way this isn‘t written by Janet Evanovich?? It reads exactly like a Stephanie Plum novel… I mean, I‘m here for it. It‘s my favorite kinda fluff novel when I‘m in a slump. But I think it‘s a pen name. 🤷♀️
This book was everything I needed it to be. I spent hours of my youth absorbing Jacques on PBS with Julie, with his daughter Claudine… I absolutely adored every moment.
I had to look up canal locks! Loved this story.
This book sucked. I couldn‘t finish it. All the characters were pathetic.
Have you ever heard of a bathing machine?? I had to look it up after hearing about one in this book.
Omg omg omg 😱 it‘s been on preorder and now it‘s here!!
Holy Shit. I should have read a few reviews first, but I went into it blind having loved The Convenience Store book… 🤣🤦♀️ what did I just read??? As everyone else has said- ALL THE TRIGGERS. What a bizarre book. I guess it‘s a pick, but I wouldn‘t read it again.
We loved these books! My 11 and 13 year old boys thought it was fantastic.
Im enjoying this series more than I thought I would! I have had the first book for ages and found it in audible for free so I tired it and am so glad. I needed an epic fantasy right about now…
Finally read my first De Lint. Loved it. Any recommendations on which to read next?
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. I‘ve been meaning to read if for years. I saw the movie and remember enjoying it. I‘m sure the book is better. It‘s kind of one of those stories where you don‘t like any of the characters but you still loved the book.
The title is fitting. It‘s an ugly and wonderful book.
This book was just precious. Loved it.
I really can‘t believe this book isn‘t read and talked about by more people. It was very good. I‘ve had the actual book on my shelf for years and finally got around to it. I love finding hidden treasures like this. 🐉 dragons, action, steam... it‘s all there.
I definitely expected it to be less “precious” than it was.
I think I‘m going to enjoy this one.
I‘m not sure exactly why, but I loved this book. It was like a fluffy cupcake. You need it, but you don‘t really need it... and it makes you happy.
Seriously enjoying the heck out of this series!! Finished A Conspiracy of Kings yesterday, and today this hold came up! I clean houses, so audiobooks are absolute life for me while I work. 😍
My 12 year old son is tearing these books up!! I‘ve never seen him so excited to read. He‘s read 3 of her books in the last 2 weeks!! I‘m beyond thrilled.
I‘m absolutely loving this series!!
All the stars. ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We are so excited that it‘s a series of 4 books, hopefully all read by Tennant. I‘m going to request my library gets the rest of the series ASAP! Both my boys, 12 and 10, loved it and I loved it just as much.
Listening to the amazing David Tennant narrate this book with my sons, on the way home from school everyday. It is fantastic. My 12 year old even commented on the writing style. We are absolutely smitten with it.
This has been on my shelf for ages. I‘m finally digging in. Quite the #chunkster at 557 pages.
This book wasn‘t quite what I was expecting but it was very good. If you struggle with depression or suicidal thoughts, I would say it‘s a must read. Life is worth living and each day is truly, new.
I hope to sit and read today. A real paper book, not just an audiobook while busy doing life. I‘ve been meaning to read this one for a long time... maybe today will be the day.
If you enjoy tears steadily streaming down your face, read it.
I needed this today!! I‘ve already laughed out loud several times!
Jane Eyre retelling! Yes please!
There are no reviews for this one posted... we‘ll see how it goes.
I think this was my 6th or 7th time to read this book. It‘s still beautiful.
I highly recommend this book!! We are listening on audio, with my sons 10 & 12, and it‘s just creepy enough to be fun! Perfect for this time of year!
I‘ve been so heartbroken during this book. Fanny is so absolutely overlooked, taken advantage of, and taken for granted thru the whole book. Mrs. Norris seems to have wanted her there simply to have someone to lord over for her entire life. Better to have left her happy at home and poor. They could have been such a joy to her, she should have been a daughter and sister to them. I am enjoying the book, it just fires me up!
After enjoying my reread of Persuasion, I‘m diving into a reread of this beauty.
Inspired by my last book to revisit this one. It‘s been about 19 years since I‘ve opened this book. 😱
Loved this book sooo much!! If you are a fan of Austen, and love books like Guernsey Lit Society, this book is for you.
I enjoyed this magical little story. Perfect for children, the story is a bit thin but that‘s expected as it‘s not written for adults. Magical circus. I had to read it, and I wasn‘t disappointed.
