Pickpick

These books are never what I expect, but it always blows my mind.
A very satisfying end to a very heart-rending journey.

Hob weaves true magic with her writing. Her poetic, imaginative prose takes you places you've never dreamt of; contiplating situation you'll never face, but truly do though her stories

Enchanted_Bibliophile Going into a darker, more introspective character study with this book makes it much slower than the previous two (which were already slow) so perseverance is the name of the game. Don't try to rush, stick with it I promise you'll be glad you did. Even if it test your tolerance for grimness beyond what you think you can handle. 3d
Enchanted_Bibliophile The complexity of the character bonds is what really pulled it off for me. Nighteyes, Fool I'm looking at you.
The prolonged revenge quest got a bit much for me, but the character development I got out of it was so worth it. Understanding where Fitz came from - his physical and psychological suffering - made me understand his need for revenge.
3d
Enchanted_Bibliophile How he revenged himself in the end, O Man!
It shows just how much he's learnt and grown and it was just spectacular.

I'm gonna miss these characters, they've become a part of my heart.

May #wrapup

Total read = 10
7 audio (2 novellas)
3 print

I returned to several series I had paused on and started a couple of new ones. My pick for May is Sandstorm, because it reminded me that I can get through a #chunkster. I gobbled up the almost 600 pages while on vacation.

This #chunkster was worth the wait (and the length)! Magical, lyrical, and haunting, this had mystery, whimsy, and true love. It felt perfect for the moment with queer love that triumphs all tests, brilliant characters that don‘t dull their truth, and lighthearted moments that keep it from getting too heavy. So good!

peanutnine One of my all-time favorites! 🤩 5d

repost for @BarkingMadRead:

Ok #hashtagbrigade it‘s time to start thinking about the book for June/July! we have another #chunkster on our hands! Who will be joining in the discussion? Everyone is welcome, but remember: my hashtags are often ridiculous and always chapter spoilers, so don‘t read my post until you‘ve read the chapter!

KAO I need to tackle some other titles in my TBR stack, so I‘ll skip this one and rejoin in August for Age of Innocence! 3w
TheAromaofBooks @Ruthiella - Yes! I was not a fan of N&S which I felt like dragged on forever with Gaskell killing off some other perfectly nice character every 50 pages or so so we can get MORE chapters of boring Margaret wringing her hands and bemoaning her life and worrying that she said the wrong thing. But Cranford! So delightful! So much humor and wonderful characters! I couldn't believe they were written by the same person! 3w
quietjenn Yes! 3w
Bklover I‘m in! I need to improve on @dabbe ‘s Thursday lists. I have the same copy as well😉😊 3w
