It‘s a reread but still my first ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ book of the year.
I wasn‘t loving my February background, so I changed it early. Honestly, not sure I love this one either.

I‘m rereading this books for the third time and it still has me wanting to stay up all night and finish it. I‘m going f to be so sad/mad at 5 am.
I‘ve spent all day trying to figure out how to interpret day 2 of the #WinterGames #DailyPhotoChallenge which is love. I‘ve decided to go with a series I love by an author I love. Honestly I love all of her books but this series is really special.

Bought this thanks to it appearing on a readers digest list explaining what ‘sunshine noir‘ is for #booked2023— I‘m a third in and there is snow on the ground which feels at odds with what I assumed?!
#SummerSpecial
It‘s pretty grey this morning, so maybe a bad day for #SummerSun here today. ⛅️☀️ Here‘s a few books either read or in my TBR with summer sun titles & vibes.💛
29/23 I‘ve just finished this and it is the most terribly written thing I‘ve put my eyes on in a while. I was also very troubled by some of the content. But it still got a so so because I was interested in the actual plot (I just had to ignore how terrible the rest of it was). Read for #booked23 #sunshinenoir ☀️
The sunshine is finally out! So I‘m trying a little reading whilst the boys play… although not much as I have to count how long it takes to get down the slide🛝
I laughed, I cried, and I apparently jumped blindly into a series. On to book 2.
Is there any possible way this isn‘t written by Janet Evanovich?? It reads exactly like a Stephanie Plum novel… I mean, I‘m here for it. It‘s my favorite kinda fluff novel when I‘m in a slump. But I think it‘s a pen name. 🤷♀️
Such a fun audiobook. Can‘t wait to get more into this series.
I finished this with 31 minutes to spare before it went back to the Libby ether! A light pick for me. The story was interesting and plausible (more or less). I liked the sheriff and her daughter. There were some humorous and witty lines. The setting is charming. BUT I agree with other Littens that the MC‘s constant focus on “hot guys” (and one in particular) was off putting. The flippant tone was also a bit much. Should be a good BC discussion!
I should finish the tagged book in another day or two as I work through my #FebTBR slowly but steadily. 🐢

5/5 for the first in this series! Darynda had done it again and I‘m now hooked on another of her series!! I need more now! Sunshine and her daughter Auri are my favorites! I love all the sarcasm. The side characters are so great too. I will be continuing the series.
This was charming. I liked Sunshine, (and her daughter, deputies, and parents) as well as the town with its plethora of quirky inhabitants. This was definitely a good first installment in a series. The next one comes out next month and I'll be interested in reading it. I NEED to see how the fallout from Levi's DNA test is handled. #audiostitching
I think I have a love/hate relationship with this author. I read the first in her Charley Davidson series and wasn‘t bowled over and never got back to the second. I enjoy her humor, and her characters are definitely colorful and out of the ordinary. But I had two issues here. First the abduction of a 14 yo girl seems to take a backseat to the protagonist‘s (Sheriff Sunny Vicram) preoccupation with the men in her orbit and the pace is unhurried.🔻
I chose this for #readingthestates2021 #NewMexico.
It‘s a cliche filled mystery, with characters I mostly didn‘t care for (no boundaries anywhere! Inappropriate flirting in a police station by high up officers... ugh)
I sped the audio way up to get through it, and would have bailed if it weren‘t to check off the state. Won‘t be recommending.
We read this for book club and it was a lot of fun, although most of us agreed that the author stuffed in A LOT of plot and characters. Looking forward to the next book and perhaps getting more answers. Very quirky despite some of the darker subjects, i.e. rape, murder, kidnapping. Book 16 of 2021.
I am dismayed (to put it mildly) at this author's apparently consistent unhealthy portrayal of sex. I had the same problem with the first in her Charley Davidson series. [more]
#JoyousJanuary #Readathon slow start 1 book finished
@Andrew65
This was a book club book. It was an awkward mixture of humor and serious issues that didn't quite flow for me. It dealt with kidnap in a light, frivolous manner, like it was cute or something. It was also heavy on the man-worship, which always makes me roll my eyes. There were many problematic incidences I didn't find believable.
Reread for book club and my second #BookSpin book! I hope this isn‘t cheating, but I accidentally picked a book that doesn‘t come out till March for #20 so I replaced it with this one. My bad. Will be more careful next month! Just as enjoyable the second time around.
1. A Bad Day for Sunshine, You Have a Match and The Cousins.
2. The Hate U Give - Gave me a much needed different perspective.
3 Last book I read by A Black author - My Sister, the Serial Killer
Fun crime book set in quirky NM small town. I assume this will be the first in the series and I'm curious to read the next one as there seems to be a secret society running the town in addition to a couple psychic residents and assorted oddball characters. The main characters were a little reminiscent of this author's last series (only with less supernatural powers) but I was ok with that.
This was my first Darynda Jones book (once again thanks @wanderinglynn 😁), and I loved it! Sun and her merry band of misfits kept me guessing (and laughing). I‘m really looking forward to the 2nd book in the series - because that ending was a total cliffhanger 😳🤪
#audiobook was pretty good. A mystery series with heavy comedy bent similar in style to The Spellman Files books or the Stephanie Plum series. Entertaining but a few too many plot threads.
#3books I‘ve read in a day
I‘d like to savor the In Death books, but I can‘t put them down once I start.
Slayer was unexpected. I loved BTVS, & so I hesitantly went into Slayer (because who can be a better than Buffy?) But I ended up getting sucked into the story.
I‘m a huge Darynda Jones fan & I actually put off reading Bad Day because I wanted it to last. But once I picked it up, I didn‘t put it down until the last page.
All 3 read in 2020.
Loved it! I‘m a huge fan of Darynda Jones and this book did not disappoint. I love her snarky humor and Sunshine is a great MC. Can‘t wait for book 2.
Book 1 of 4 finished for #jubliantjuly readathon.
Book 4/25 finished for July #bookspin bingo.
Not for me. Don‘t know why, just didn‘t grab me. Maybe now is not the time for break the rules cops and me?!
The novel unfolds a messy and confusing case involving a missing classmate of Auri. There are many moving pieces and accusations being thrown around. It‘s up to Sunshine to weed through the lies and truths before times runs out in finding this missing girl.
Love it. Read it in a day. When does the next one com out?
My first Darynda Jones book and I didn‘t like it. Sunshine Vikram is the newly elected sheriff of Del Sol, NM. She hits the ground running when a teenage girl goes missing. I did not connect with any of the characters and the mystery was uninspired. I‘m disappointed because I was really looking forward to this one.
Really enjoyed this one! Great audio and fast paced story.
The mystery and high school part of the story were great. The way she had a professional law enforcement officer act like a hormonal teenager every time a good looking man was nearby (and apparently the average man in this community is model hot), not so much.
I loved the Charley Davidson books so I was super excited to see a new series from Darynda Jones. This is a strong first in that new series. Sunshine is fabulous and the relationship with her daughter feels real and is touching. I am looking forward to seeing where Jones take these new and awesome characters. Thanks to #Netgalley, St. Martin‘s Press and the fabulous Darynda Jones for this arc.
This was a fun audiobook. Looking forward to book 2 😊
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
"Skinny people are easy to kidnap. Stay safe, eat cake."
I might have laughed too hard at that ??
In true Darynda Jones style, this was quirky, funny, and entertaining. Sunshine has returned to Del Sol as the newly elected sheriff. There‘s never a dull moment as she‘s faced with solving an abduction, dealing with past demons, and raising her daughter Auri as a single parent. All the love for a new Darynda Jones series! Thank you NetGalley for the ARC #NETGALLEY 4🌟🌟🌟🌟
What a great start to a new series! Darynda Jones‘ Charley Davidson series is one of my favorites, and I was sad to see it end. So I was thrilled to hear about a new series. It is fabulous! This is not paranormal, this is a mystery/suspense romance with comedic moments. I am already in love with this cast of characters and look forward to continuing the series. It does standalone but not all questions are answered at the end. #easterextravaganza
What a delightful read! I enjoyed all of the sarcasm, humor, and suspense. I look forward to reading the next one, hopefully I won‘t have to wait too long.
Anyone who has a Charley-size hole in your heart, Sunshine is here to fill it and maybe create a space of her own. You'll be pulled into the mystery and want to become a resident of Del Sol before it's all over. I'm ready to solve more mysteries with Sunshine #mystery #daryndajones
Yay! My preorder arrived 🎉 I can‘t wait to dive into it.
Also, this is perfect for today‘s white cover prompt for #acrossapril 😀
