Where the Wild Things Are | Maurice Sendak
post image
Mehso-so

This picture book and MF by Maurice Sendak is definitely a classic. In my opinion, I was never a fan growing up, I personally found the story creepy. Looking at the story now I appreciate the art and look of darkness in the book, but this would be a fun RT to have the kids dress up. The UDL I would align for this book is 1.2 to offer a new way to show a book and the ESOL strategy I would refer to is 18 to show TPR. #UCFLAE3414F19

haleyklein Here is a cute reader theater performed by a teacher and her students! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6J892bV_V0 5y
AleciaM Love this book. Perfect fit with your ULD. 5y

This B was such a powerful children's book. I will definitely be implementing this into my future classroom. This would be great for younger ages to start on a literature circle or to have as a read-aloud allowing you the teacher to ask structured questions. The UDL is 3.1, I would do more than read this book, I would also go further and do an author study. The ESOL strategy I would reference is 9 to incorporate not taking. #UCFLAE3414F19

KristenScala I love biography books and I think they‘re very important for students to utilize and learn from. I think it‘s a great idea to do an authors study on Ruby Bridges! 5y

In the book of lots of P you will come across a poem titled “Halfway Down“ this is such a great poem to use to introduce not only an author study but also poems by A.A. Milne in general. I have grown up reading his children's poems and have enjoyed them so I would love to bring some of them into my classroom one day as well. The UDL I would use towards this is 1.3 because of how unique his poems are on paper. #UCFLAE3414F19

Rumpelstiltskin is such an amazing TL to always have in the classroom. Its a great example for the genre itself as well. This version was retold by Peter Clover, its the version I've had since I can remember! The UDL 7.1 would help to make the focus on recruiting interest in a different genre. I would also align ESOL strategy 12 in helping to gain the whole idea of this style writing and storytelling. #UCFLAE3414F19
