I love Katherine Applegate and Wishtree might be my absolute favorite book by her. 💚💚💚

She explores themes of acceptance, racism, love, and friendship and uses a talking tree to bring everything, and everyone together.

This book made me want to just sit outside and listen to all the nature around me.

A short and sweet book narrated by an Oak tree who has nurtured relationships in its neighborhood for over 200 years. Its stories center around kindness, love, and acceptance. Throughout the book are gorgeous drawings featuring critters who live in the tree‘s hollows, and many Oak leaves falling.

Too many sweet life affirming quotes to choose from in this story narrated by a tree, so I‘m going with a vocabulary lesson Applegate just sneaks into her story💙

Incredibly crafted & beautiful novel of growth, change, and hopefulness. I laughed, cried, and even had goosebumps while reading “Wishtree.” Perfect fall read. 🍂 Included a photo of my favorite tree in my backyard - I wonder what stories it could tell? 5/5 ⭐️

I loved this book on how it always keeps me with hope to believe I can do anything. This book was very inspirational with the quotes it used the the caring,thoughtful messages.

My daughter gave me this book to read because she thought I would like it because we are descended from lots of Irish folk. When we went to the Irish Festival in Dublin, OH a couple years ago we put wishes on the Wishtree there. This is a beautiful little book, full of hope and good things. #100YEARS100BOOKS #65 #BFC21

Wish Tree is a great novel for a literature circle. This short novel teaches us the importance of diversity, inclusion, kindness & love. We learn all about “Red”, an old wish-tree with decades of wisdom. This story is beautiful but warning- your eyes may water (Haha) ! This RF novel would best be taught using UDL principles 2.1 (clarify vocabulary and symbols) & 3.2 (highlight patterns, critical features, big ideas & relationships)

I loved the connection to the 🌎 Earth and the roots of the trees connection to each other too.

Beautiful story about love, generations in America, and acceptance of different people in communities. Filled with stories of heritage and custom...and some funny animals! Kids liked this story very much!

Wish tree is a book about this tree that once a year, people come to put there wish on the tree. But one day this family moves in to the house next to her and every thing changes.
This is one of my side books i read like ones each year. Its like a easy chapter book that i recommend to any reader.

This book is about a community that writes wishes on pieces of fabric and ties them to branches of the tree. This is a heart warming book that explores the concept of acceptance. This F, E.B White Read Aloud award winning novel is perfect for an RA or LC. The F book, Wishtree, is a story of Red who has seen a neighborhood grow. Every year, they place wishes on his tree and this hear, though his life is in danger, he is determined to help a little girl named Samar get her wish. This would be a great book to use for LC, and could be used when teaching students about the different types of F within the genre!

I know it is a good book if it makes me cry and this book did. Wishtree is about an old oak tree named Red. People far and near use the tree as if it is a wishing well. They write down a wish and tie it to the tree. For many years the tree has received wishes, but a recent wish shocked everyone including Red. In addition to that, Red's existence is threatened.

I've been trying to get more into audio books (it's a struggle) and thought a short one would be for the best. I've been listening to this since January and the narrator drove me crazy with her different voices for each character. The book itself was great! It was the perfect mix of education and whimsical.

This children‘s Fiction book is an amazing read that embodies the UDL guideline of highlighting patterns, critical features, big ideas, and relationships. Enjoyed the narration of the kind, humorous, and wise Red beachside this weekend. 😌👌🏾🌳💕🌊 #UCFLAE3414SPC

Should be a review and not a blurb but I never can click on the right option. I read this one at the beginning of the year and I enjoyed it. Great story for mg readers to be kind and accepting to those that are different from us. ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

What a wonderful read! Tissues required! Who doesn‘t love a book that is narrated by a tree?

A sweet story about loving your neighbor and taking action in the face of injustice. Red is our narrator, a 216-year-old raggy tree; the community ties wishes to Red's branches once a year. Interesting nature facts/vocabulary are casually woven into this beautiful narrative. I would have liked this to be a tad longer so the friendship between Stephen and Samar could be fleshed out more, but I otherwise really enjoyed this gentle tale.

This was a very interesting MF novel by Katherine Appelgate. It not only teaches a lot of great and valuable lessons but I would definitely use this as a LC. The UDL I would use towards this is 7.2 by giving on-topic questions for the groups to discuss. The ESOL strategies I would reference is 1 to see that questions are being asked event to our peers for understanding. #UCFLAE3414F19

I truly liked this book by Katherine Applegate. I think this book is great for literature circles. It was an easy read. I will say that it was easy to predict what would happen but it also made you want to continue reading it so that you could see if you were right in your predictions. I think this book touched on a delicate subject of not accepting someone because of something someone else did. #ucflae3414f19

#BristolthePistol and I read 36 chapters of #wishtree by Katherine Applegate yesterday to finish this book! It had such a wonderful message and we loved it so much! We thought the story line was excellent and how it‘s important to believe in yourself and also be kind and caring towards others even if they don‘t share the same beliefs. Wishes really can come true! Excellently written and we thought the names of all the characters were cute also!

Now, Red faces the problem of being cut down and all the animals could lose their homes. In this novel, the characters hope for something better to come along and save the day.
