A belated review:

Change is afoot in Botswana. The Agency is losing money and so it must pick up and move. But what to do about the assistant detective? It seems Mma Makutsi has hidden talents besides being the assistant and top graduate of secretarial school! I love the development of this character. Meanwhile the orphanage has taken in a wild boy who seems to have been raised by animals. How can anyone communicate with him? The solution is ⬇️

Texreader a surprise! Despite her misgivings, Precious agrees to look for an American mother‘s missing son. Mma Makutsi takes on a case on her own. And finally, Precious‘s fiancé Mr JLB Matekoni becomes so ill, he‘s quit working at Speedy Motors! A lot of serious story lines going on at one time. Another excellent book, third in the series. #serieslove @TheSpineView (edited) 1w

Loving this series! Another enjoyable outing with Mma Ramotswe, J.L. Matakoni, and Mma Makutsi. Each book is like visiting with old familiar friends.

The more books I read in this series, the more I like it. I wouldn't have thought that in the beginning. McCall Smith keeps developing his characters, and while they're busy investigating, they become deeper, they become more human, more real. They become friends and now I can't wait to visit Mma Ramotswe again.

I need a not scary book to read after the last one gave me nightmares. I really am a huge coward and I know it wouldn‘t have bothered most people but it did stress me out. Mma Ramotswe has yet to stress me out.

Ruthiella I would go as far to say that Mma Ramotswe is a stress reliever! 😀 4y
In_the_stacks I get scared easily by horror fiction, I can relate! 😬 4y

Lucas pointed out the irony of this quote being on a Book of the Month bookmark, a subscription where everyone chooses from limited options of books. 🤣

Good thing we read other things, too. 😉 I'm starting the next Ladies Detective Agency book in addition to Owen Meany. Thankfully there are still a lot of books in the series because I can't go long without my Mma Ramotswe and Mma Makutsi fix! ❤

krissylovesbooks75 I love that series! 5y

I love this series. The characters make it, and the mysteries and life situations are always rewarding too. In Morality Mma Makutsi gets to try her detecting skills for the first time, and Mr JLB Matekoni falls on harder times. As always, the African setting is lovely and makes me long to visit Botswana.

Nice addition to the No. 1 Ladies Detective Series. As McCall writes he brings us more and more into the lives of the characters. Always a good mystery, but the characters are so real that they are the driving force behind the series.

I love Mma Makutsi's new role, and her relationship with the garage boys! I also found depression as taboo relevant, though I think we've come a long way from how it's discussed in the book.
