Stevie Bell is an amateur detective trying to solve the infamous murder that happened 80 years ago when her prestigious private school opened. It seems the killer is back so Stevie uses all her skills and knowledge to try and figure out what's happening. A bit slow to start but a very enjoyable first installment in this trilogy! Looking forward to the next two!

The Pretty One is a story about sisters that was gifted to me ( #booked2019 ) by a friend who went to the 50/50 bookstore, a pay what you can community book store in Denver! It was a very typical "easy summer read" that didn't have much depth to it but wasn't hard to get through.

Even before Cheryl got to the trail I already missed being in nature. As a lover of camping I loved listening to the story and the descriptions of the trails, scenery, and gear. I am so happy I chose this for #booked2019 reminds me of my happy place which is nature and it did not disappoint. I sometimes found it a bit hard to follow with jumping between timelines but not enough to stop listening

The second book in The Amateurs trilogy focuses on the group of friends trying to figure out what happened to a social media star who disappeared one night after a party. They constantly search her Instagram for clues and use other social media in their digging. Got some PLL (tv show) dollhouse vibes from this one! Sara Shepard always knows just how to hook me in. #booked2019 social media focus

Originally picked this because of just the blurb. It is about an FBI special agent who is visited by another agent who tells her they need to talk about her son moments after she found a loaded gun in his room. Turned out to be about the FBI, CIA, the Senate, the White House, and Russian spies; and their master plan so it became my #booked2019 political intrigue. Read it in about 2.5 days!

Anastasia in space. I don't ever pick space books but this filled a challenge prompt and since it's YA I figured it wouldn't be so bad but I was wrong. The story was not engaging and I had to force myself to keep reading. If it wasn't my #booked2019 Genrebusting book I definitely would have bailed after a couple chapters

An interesting book about Michelle McNamara's investigation into the Golden State Killer. The fact that (who is believed to be) the GSK was caught last year [but after the book was written] made it much less scary to read. I don't know how anyone in California slept during his decade of activity! #booked2019 night oriented title

5 months & 196 people in front of me on the waitlist but I finally listened to Becoming! She narrates it so it really feels like she is telling you a story. It was very worth the wait. I loved hearing about her childhood and the whole series of events that led to her time as first lady. As a Canadian I was taken aback by just how intense the candidacy process is

Holy smokes! This was unputdownable! Because of short chapters and engaging storytelling it was so easy to say "just one more" until you finished the book.

I couldn't put this down! A beautifully written story about the horrors of the Tennessee Children's Home Society. Without a doubt my favourite book of 2019 so far.

A very interesting story of many people all planning to attend the Big Oakland Powwow. It took a bit of time for the stories to start connecting (each chapter is told from a different perspective) but once they did everything became clear.

Peter Kavinsky has some competition! I am loving this trilogy. It's easy to read but not shallow. I relate to Lara Jean a lot (I still feel like her now at 27 years old 😆) which has made it that much more enjoyable. Theres still a few people ahead of me on the waitlist for the third book so I will wait (im)patiently to find out how the story ends!

I found the lack of quotation marks and jumping between memories and present day hard to follow. I also struggled to keep track of the different designations and who was which role.

After finishing this I've decided dystopian novels are just not for me. The only one I've actually enjoyed is the hunger games.

What an interesting story! Just when you (and Alan) think you have everything figured out something happens and changes the story again. He narrates it in his thick Scottish accent so it really feels like he's telling you this story. No one is safe from family scandal and drama, not even celebrities whose lives we so often glamourize. Sadly no mention of his role in Spice World 😔

Loved the concept but was disappointed by the execution. It did not hook me in at all and I was only mildly interested in some storylines, while not at all in others. Stuck with it though because it was my #booked2019 PoC MC Paranormal. My post book reading taught me that it is similar to the handmaid's tale which is coincidentally my next read so it will be interesting to compare them

I love Reese Witherspoon so I was very excited when this was finally ready for me at the library. I didn't find anything in the book to be earth shattering but I loved reading it in her voice and seeing all the recipes and pictures she shared. I've always wanted to go to Nashville but I feel like now it's just bit higher on my list

A few good ideas and lines but overrated in my opinion. I found it hard to read a lot at once so it took me a while even though it's only 210 pages

A YA love story between two teenagers with CF. Can their love conquer the six foot distance they must keep between them?
An easy and engaging read. I was quickly attached to the characters and breezed through it.
I picked it as my #booked2019 "Book to movie" but I learned that the movie script and book were pitched at the same time and the book is based on the screenplay. I'm still counting it though because it came out first and I read it first

Last book of 2018! Planning to see the movie when it comes out, I figured I should read the book first. I expected to power through it because it's only 197 pages (and only 2 chapters 😮) but it actually took me a while. I didn't love the writing and found it hard to keep track of the timeline. As rarely as it happens, I will probably like the movie more than the book. Happy New Year!

This book is a companion of Impulse and I liked it so much more! Through most of it I didn't think the order of reading mattered but after finishing I'm glad I read it second. The writing was beautiful and engaging.
I would have liked to see more wrap up in 3/4 storylines.

So cute!! Disappointed I watched the movie without knowing it was based on a book but I loved it nonetheless. A quick and easy read. Looking forward to reading the next two

Love the library kiosks at my airport! When you scan your card and put in your pin the door unlocks. It feels like you've cracked the secret code and books are the treasure 📚

I got distracted doing other things and planned to renew this book only to discover it wasn't renewable so I only had 2 days to read it! Luckily, because it's a collection of pieces of writing, it was very easy to breeze through. I loved reading all the different stories and learning about all the cool organizations working to help society move towards total equality. Highly recommend!

This was my 9th Jodi Picoult read and I loved it! It starts at the end and goes back one hour at a time until the morning of the day the story takes place. One of my favourite things is reading the exact passage where the title comes from if it isn't obvious on the surface and this one was particularly good. Not as long as some of her other books but just as powerful and well written

My third Ellen Hopkins read this month and my least favourite so far. I listened to the audiobook and found it hard to differentiate between Conner and Tony which made it hard to get into. I kept waiting for something big to happen and it never did. I was bored by the end.

I've been investigating recliners for a while now and ended up finding this one which looks exactly like the ones I looked at online but was half the price from someone selling it in my city. Let the relaxing and reclining begin 🤩

I really enjoyed this book! It is written in the second person and told from the point of view of the 6 main characters. That made it very easy to get in to the characters' heads. My "omg what if ______ is the shooter to do a play on ______" prediction (half way through) ended up being right which was exciting. Shooter and reason were right but victim was wrong. 2/3 ain't bad though! I definitely recommend this book ? #ellenhopkins #YAfiction

I read this morning while I got my winter tires put on and when my name was called to let me know my car was ready, another person in the waiting area commended me on my concentration! I told him I was so close to the end I just had to keep reading. Very excited to finish this tonight and see just what inspired the inside of the book jacket

The connections the main players have to each other are all starting to come together nicely. But who pulled the trigger? I guess I'll have to keep reading to find out #ellenhopkins #yanovel

I have a feeling Litsy will be a much more fun way to keep track of my reading 😄
