Holy, was this book ever a trip. I constantly felt suspense at the twists that this book presents at you in the first act. The second act turns into a police thriller, where you feel a constant sense of dread and frustration, knowing Nick is right, but is he morally right?? And the third act, although ending the book well, makes you feel so helpless. Really glad I picked this up with my Audible credit.

This Audiobook was truly something else. So much so that I was compelled to sit through all 700 pages again. I‘ll tell you right now that I was not disappointed. Going in to this my expectations were low, maybe a good narrator, but I was surprised to see that every character in the book had a dedicated voice actor. The book used convincing sound effects and a HAL-sounding AIDAN. Sometimes you could feel the emotion these characters were having!

Cfischbuch I might have to give this a listen. You have made it sound amazing. 5y

Mehso-so

This book is a bit on the fence for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the unique plot device and setting of Nine, but it was lacking in a few areas, mainly being, backstory. The book places us right into this world, which is fine, but at no point is it explained how this world came to be, it‘s only hinted at. Other than that and a few plot holes, this book did keep me reading for about a month. There‘s really no need for a sequel, but a prequel fits well.

MrsBabki Well thought out response. I like how I you think. I wondered about reading this one - I might skip it. 5y

Honestly- this book was not very good (for me). The book had very little action and Too. Much. Dialogue. Of course this is my opinion but very rarely was I excited to turn the page. The book does have a sort-of interesting plot but verges more on the realistic fiction side than the dystopian future side. I do want to give regard to the two action scenes that were actually exciting. For me I would rate this book a 3/10, but this is my opinion.

MrsBabki I value your opinion! I think you have great insights - I love how you think! 5y
Cfischbuch Was it just lack of energetic pacing (plot) or were the characters lacking personality (where you just don‘t feel invested in them)? 5y
reiddecillia @Cfischbuch the characters in this book were well made, but the book focused almost too much on character development, and left no room for plot development. Paired with the fact that the book is really long, it just made for a boring book. (edited) 5y

This book was honestly the pinnacle of sci-fi, up there with Illuminae on my favourite books. Though it isn‘t hardcore sci-fi like Illuminae, it would be something like a “lost” sci-fi. The book takes place on a cavern filled planet where our characters were stranded years ago after an attack from an alien species. They must constantly fend off attacks from the “Krell” and untangle the past - before they crashed. 9.5/10 would recommend too anyone.

Cfischbuch The sequel is in stores now! Hello Chapters Night. Hint. Hint. 5y

I recently finished reading Nyxia Unleashed and it was the conclusion I‘ve always wanted for this series. The book wraps up as we see our heroes descend to Earth after their final battle with Babel. The ending to this series was the best and tidy wrap-up us fans needed, with the right amount of mystery and the thought of the unknown to keep us thinking, even after we‘ve read the last word. I would 8/10 recommend this series to any sci-fi lover.

A short read but a great one! I‘ve always been a fan of lemony and this book just adds to my eternal love for him :P. I really enjoyed the orchestral music that went along with this, it added a whole new layer to what would be a simple picture book! Super excited to go meet Lemony Snicket in real life!

MrsBabki Ahhhhhh! I need you to pick something of his for me to read before October 2! 5y

I love the cover for this book! It suits the futuristic tone of the book so well! And the sentinels suit on the left? Love it! How‘s the book going you ask? Great! Read it! (I‘m realizing as I proof read this how hyper I sound)

Cfischbuch I think I was kinda that way too! It was really, really good! 5y

Hey litsiers! (Is that what we call ourselves???) Sorry for being inactive lately, but do not fear fellow litsiers (I'm going with that now) for I have been reading over the summer! I've finished a lot of great reads, such as Nyxia Unleashed and Steelheart! Sticking with this superpowers theme, I'm reading Renegades, which is going a bit slow, but I'll let y'all know how it went when I finish!

LibrarianRyan Very cool. Most people use Littens. But hey what ever works. 5y

LibrarianRyan yep. Took a while, but Horowitz decided to write more. 5y

Done Nyxia! What a great read! Loved the sci fi atmosphere with the element of competition! No time for a break though, my stack beside my bed keeps growing.

MrsBabki Did you not find the competition long and drawn out? 5y

Pickpick

Summary: After the colony of Kerenza IV is attacked by a BeiTech, tech genius Kady Grant, and ex-boyfriend Ezra Mason are stranded aboard two different escape ships, science vessel Hypatia, and UTA dreadnought Alexander. Pursued by BeiTech warship Lincoln, it's a frantic race to Jump Station Heimdall, a journey no one is sure they can make. This review is original and in my own words.

Cfischbuch It truly is a page turner. Full of action, suspense and intrigue. I hope your summary / review tempts other readers. 6y
