The Hunger Games Trilogy | Suzanne Collins
246 posts | 953 read | 3 reading | 53 to read
Suzanne Collins's extraordinary worldwide-bestselling Hunger Games trilogy is now available in a paperback boxset! This edition features the books with the classic cover art in a striking new package. Now available, a paperback box set of the Hunger Games! This special edition box set features the original cover artwork from the ground-breaking, bestselling trilogy. A perfect gift for fans of the books or movies. In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

I actually like both, as long as they are done well, which is the important part. Post-apocalyptic can get too dark and that turns me off. If I end up thinking the best solution for the characters (and the readers) is for them to commit mass suicide, it‘s gone too far. As far as alt history, that walks a fine line between the actual history and being so original it‘s basically just an original story set in that time period.

TheBookHippie Oh man. No just no. I won't read either!! BAHAHAHAHAHAHA. 3w
ravenlee Actually, I don‘t really read either, either. Um, too? Either, too? 3w

Thanks for the tag, Lisa! 📚 #Two4Tuesday

1️⃣ Not particularly a fan of either genres, but I have read more Post-Apocalyptic books, so I choose that one.

2️⃣ The tagged trilogy; Basic, I know. 😂 And some may not even consider it as such. Also, The Giver series as well.

📚Who wants to play? @GingerAntics @slategreyskies @AkashaVampie @Kappadeemom

TheSpineView Loved the Hunger Games! Thanks for playing! 3w
GingerAntics Loved the Hunger Games as well. This is a hard choice. Done well, I like both actually (so sort of the opposite of you), but the important part is “done well.” I think when post-apocalyptic because mainstream there for a while, everyone was throwing something into the ring and some of it was terrible. I think alternate history has to walk a fine line between the real history & just being an original story set in the given time period. 3w

I was really excited to read this and be submerged back into the Panem universe. On the whole the book was great and I‘d highly recommend for Hunger Games fans. Sadly I felt the ending totally let it down with a lack of detail presenting a rushed feeling.

The first attempt at reading this book, I hated it. I bailed about halfway through. However, with my second attempt, I enjoyed it. Hated the main character still, he has no redeeming qualities but the story was good in a terrible way. It is a very bleak story.

1. Going to Merlefest, a bluegrass music festival, with my bf for his birthday. He got to see one of his favorite bands and was very pleased ☺️
2. Felix Ever After 😍
3. Katniss Everdeen, she can be so annoyingly dense sometimes 🤦🏼‍♀️
4. Cooler temps that allow me to break out the dress-with-tights wardrobe 💃🏼

this book is a prequel to the popular series The Hunger Games. It goes back in time before Snow became the president, Snow‘s family have been struggling with poverty from the war. As we read the story we follow along with Coriolanus‘ journey of being a mentor for the hunger games, we then meet his tribute, Lucy Gray, together they work to insure Lucy‘s win to save Lucy and give Coriolanus the money he needs to save his family. But after some (1)

jadynhoy conflict with the capital, in which the two are accused of cheating, they are both separated and punished. Now Coriolanus wonders if he‘ll ever see his love again, or he will be trapped in the peace keepers till he dies of old age. If you like books that go in depth and add more lore to popular series, you will enjoy this book. This book has a big theme of character development, we can see this as we follow Coriolanus Snow‘s path (2) 12mo

Day 4 of #LitsySummerCamp: I‘m pretty sure my favorite literary character Katniss Everdeen would be teaching the archery 🏹 lessons. In her free time she would hunt for the camps dinner. (After I realized it was an example: I also like Lightfoot-a unicorn- he will be giving rides, taking campers on trails, healing campers using his horn which doubles as a way to communicate with other unicorns).Thank you for another great day of camp @ImperfectCJ

I was going to post a picture of The Goldfinch, but I forgot that I loaned my copy to a friend, so posting the next best option: all the books of the Hunger Games series. The mockingjay features prominently on the covers and in the plots of all three books.

Today, I‘m sharing what I want to read this month and I‘ve decided that I want to continue with The Hunger Games Trilogy. I read the first book in 2015 and I liked it but I haven‘t read the last 2 books. I will be rereading the first book so I can finish this trilogy. I started rereading the first book tonight and I like it so far. I‘m looking forward to finally finishing this trilogy this year. I‘ve been putting it off for a long time.

Ever since I finished the new prequel of THG I can't stop re-reading the original trilogy ( especially my favorite one in the series- Catching Fire) even though I borrowed few books from the library that I should start reading if I want to return them on time😅😅
The book in the pic is Catching Fire.

I read the first book back in high school to see what the hype was about, and I can why. I thoroughly enjoyed the trilogy. And you can't get a better star-crossed lover relationship than Katniss and Peeta.

I loved this! A lot of people have said that it was predictable, maybe we just read differently, but I was thrown for quite a few loops. I would love a follow up during the 74th Hunger Games from the Capitol‘s/Snow‘s perspective. Maybe follow Tigris a bit, I‘d like to see exactly how they fell out.

CallMeIshmael I‘m reading this now and I‘m enjoying it 2y

🚨HELP🚨
So I really want to read the tagged book but I‘m also debating rereading the trilogy first. It‘s technically the first book in the series and happens before we meet Katniss and Peta. Can someone please put me out of my misery and tell me what they recommend?

RebelReader You don‘t need to re-read the trilogy. I read it when it first came out and just finished The Ballad book and would have enjoyed it even if I‘d never heard of The Hunger Games before. 2y
mdm139 I did not reread the trilogy and finished reading the prequel. You do not need to reread it first. I was inspired to watch the movies again though, just so I can hear the songs. 2y
Klou I read it as soon as it arrived. It was amazing! I didn't reread the trilogy, but I definitely think it's one you need to have read only after the trilogy. So as long as you've read them at some point, you'll be fine! 2y
BookwormM I read this and am now re reading the trilogy I am having fun spotting the cross overs 2y

Ok I still can't believe it took me so long to read these phenomenal books. After finishing the series I was still in panem reliving certain scenes and feelings. I loved the first book and Katniss selflessly volunteering for her Prim. And poor Rue I cried more for her when katniss and peeta visited district 11 and they all gave her the 3 finger salute I lost it 😭 Oh and Peete how I heart thee! The second book and all the new characters⬇️⬇️

Betty_Boa Is probably my favorite of the 3 books. Johanna being my favorite! The mockingjay feels like my least favorite. But regardless I loved this series and as excited as I was I no longer want to watch movies for fear of disappointment. I know books will always be better than the movie but, Do the movies give these books any justice? Asking for a friend 😋 2y
BookwormM The movies are actually really good and they bring the books to life in a way I didn‘t think was possible and Katniss‘ dresses are totally amazing 2y
Betty_Boa Omg yes I think that alone is a good reason to watch her dresses! That also reminds me Cinna 😭 2y
