Quite a good book for a cross country road trip. As I gaze out the window at the Painted Desert, I think about humankind - our past, present, and future!

This has been really fun so far and is great on audio book because the narrator does such a good job with weird voices.
So far this one has some deliciously unsettling parallels to today's society. It's a lonnngggg book, but I'm liking it so far.
My last book of the #readathon and of April is also my favorite! David Mitchell is a master! 💜💜🤤☠👻👹
Novella 3: Shawshank! I had to take a three hour break for a work function but now I'm back on track. #readathon
What a fun ride! I can't wait to loan this one out. :) book 2 of my #readathon and yes they have both been short books/novellas.
One down! #readathon I really enjoyed this imaginative novella and look forward to reading the next installment!
Does this count as a double entry? 🙃 #ORANGEYOUGLAD @Liberty #iheartbooks
I just couldn't get into it. I guess I like my sci-fi more complex and less popcorn. But, hey, it takes all kinds! 🙃
I HIGHLY recommend listening to Claire Danes read you The Handmaid' s Tale. Just came out last week and she does a fantastic job.
My favorite sci-fi right now has got to be The Obelisk Gate by NK Jemisim! Such an amazing writer! #readathonblob @Liberty
Here we go. Rollin up the sleeves, pushin up the glasses, and pourin a glass of red wine to start this puppy. I know everyone is named Jose in this book, but hopefully I'll be able to keep it all straight!
One of the most terrifying books I've ever read! And seriously, a page turner.
I wonder what I'd feel like reading if Clinton had won. (She did, but you know what I mean)
Maybe it's just bad timing with all the negativity around the inauguration, but I just couldn't seem to care about this one. Will give it another try some time.
If I was a straight teen, I would probably really love this book. So yeah, it is important and "good". But since I have never been a straight teen I was also, like ?zzzz...
This one took me a while to get into, but once I did, I found it to be the perfect mess for these times. Bleak, dark, scary ...and with death slugs. Just like real life!
After being heartbroken over the sudden death of one of my childhood heroes, this was such a comfort. It's fun, scandalous, and hilarious - just like her. I recommend reading it aloud with your honey and one or more cats nearby.
This is an excellent memoir. Believe the hype! But most importantly, get it on audio book so you can hear his great narration!
glad I read this one, but I must say that I was ready for it to end. not my favorite book of the year, but still, very interesting and unsettling.
the end kind of pooped out for me, but otherwise really well written and eye opening.
This is such a fun and fascinating book, and it would be a perfect gift for any music lover. just the best!
Wow this was a surprise nail-biter! It reminded me of Jeff Vandermeer's work in terms of the creepiness. And obvious comparisons with Jose Saramago's "Blindness". The pacing is quick and the storytelling style is different. But oh...what ARE those creatures?!
This is the best YA I've read in a long time. It isn't for the faint of heart though. It's a gut-wrenching story of a Lithuanian family torn apart during WWII and sent the outer regions of Siberia to suffer through imprisonment. But it's beautifully rendered, and the characters are well-developed. Keep a tissue handy!
I just love this series. It's like eating Chex mix blindfolded. Each bite is something unexpected but always delicious. Maybe that's a lame metaphor...but if you like sci-fi and just fun in general, read these books. Do NOT watch the show though...ugh.
I'm finding a lot of this book rambling and hard to connect with, but then I found page 308 and saw myself in Smith's words once again.
Love the slow food movement? Well, this is the book version in the best possible way. Such a lovingly crafted novel of Alaskan adventure, true long-lasting love, old-world mysticism and quiet feminism. Does that seem like a lot? Well, Eowyn Ivey can handle it so don't even worry about it!
I'm REALLY loving Homegoing on audio. Totally helped in this week's roughness. Thankful for the weekend so I can burrow in the books and kitties.
