The recent release of Wes Anderson‘s new short films based on Dahl‘s short stories had me reading up the stories before watching. The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, The Swan, The Rat Catcher, and Poison. Henry Sugar has a melancholy effect, the others are peculiar, dark and unsettling. They‘re all fantastic with brilliant performances. Recommended to watch. 👍

Of these stories, the only ones I liked were The Mildenhall Treasure and The Hitchhiker. The Swan was seriously disturbing. Those kinds of stories make me question the sanity of the author…although after reading about his boarding school experiences it makes a little more sense…

Picked this out bc it was on Trevor Noah‘s recommended list on #GoodReads and despite being a Dahl fanatic as a kid, I never read this one. I see why now as it‘s much more aimed at adults.

My mom saw Trevor Noah book recommendations on Goodreads. We immediately had to buy them.

This is a meh for me. I think Dahl‘s kids stories are so much stronger than his adult ones.

This was one of his only audiobooks available from my library with no wait. Read for #AuthorAMonth.

This book was full of very enjoyable short stories.

The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and #Six More is 40 years old. Joke on me: all these years I thought Sixmore was a character. This book is for kids but you should try some of Dahl's short stories for adults.

Been really struggling to read lately. My concentration isn't there - working too hard and lost my reading spark! So anyway I finally picked up a collection of Roald Dahl's short stories and they have filled the void and got me going again! I will be back to full length books in no time 👍🏼

Faded covers, brown pages and masking-taped spines, these #welllovedreads still get plenty of love - my seven year old niece has been devouring them!
