Is this...readable? The reviews are off the charts, but I tend to be suspicious of "creative" prose. Flipping through it made me nervous, can I get into it? Am I smart enough?!

Susannah The only thing that I would caution you about is that it's choppy; it jumps around to many different narrators/narratives. But the content itself does not make it a difficult read. It's a different kind of novel, though, no question. 7y

"An England where people who are wicked in thought or deed are marked by the Smoke that pours forth from their bodies, a sign of their fallen state. "What to Expect When You're Expecting is a perennial New York Times bestseller and one of USA Today's 25 most influential books of the past 25 years. It's read by more than 90% of pregnant women who read a pregnancy book." Well, ok then! Am I cool with this 2008 version I found or should I get a newer one? Anyone have any other book suggestions?

RebeccaH I was part of the 10% who didn't read this! I read The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy and signed up for babycenter.com emails and that was it. I've heard What to Expect is a intense?? Anyway, congrats! 8y

This is the second Buddy and Earl book, and it's amazing. It's about the friendship between a hedgehog and a dog, and it's every bit as satisfying as you're imagining. There's a dog carrying a purse on the cover and a hedgehog who falls in love with a hairbrush- do I really need to go on? Get this book to read to all the baby children in your life, and then also to read to yourself when you need to be reminded that the world is good.
