The best part of being a lie-berry-an is this kind of business.

OH MY GOD. This book, a small little read, is something else. Impossible to describe the feelings. Ten thumbs up.
This book is awesome, the art is gorgeous, my son loves it and I love reading it to him.
True crime journalism, mostly dialogue taken directly from transcripts of police interviews with the suspect. Good stuff. Devastating.
Pretty sure the baby on the cover of The Sleepeasy Solution is wearing false eyelashes. My Eddiebear doesn't need that FAKE NEWS!
Is this...readable? The reviews are off the charts, but I tend to be suspicious of "creative" prose. Flipping through it made me nervous, can I get into it? Am I smart enough?!
This is technically a baby board book, but the quality is amazing. Beautiful heavy pages, vibrant pinks and deep blacks- just trust me and get this book, you will look at it and go OH!
Beautiful, lush, serene. Ten thumbs up, acquire immediately!
Found this at a thrift store and remembered trying to solve the puzzle when I was a kid. Bet I can finally figure it out with my oodles of time and fancy adult brain!
This book is amazing; a primer on mansplaining. Mary's lazy husband sits and lectures her on all the things that need to be done before winter arrives- as she does them. I bought this copy used because it's out of print and I had to have it! Ten thumbs up! Go, Mary!
Another book I planned on reading before the baby came. This one was supposed to inspire me to be strong and persevere!
I checked this out a few days before I was induced, with the idea that I would spend my maternity leave doing lots of reading. Remains unopened, obviously.
My next nonfiction pick. Teeth are such a class signifier in this country.
"Here's the thing you have to understand about Ted Cruz. I like Ted Cruz more than most of my other colleagues like Ted Cruz. And I hate Ted Cruz."
Sorry I was gone for a minute- I had a baby!
Just say "boo la la witch spa" out loud. Don't you already feel better? Works every time!
My goal for this fall is to memorize The Gashlycrumb Tinies so I can recite it to my baby and also at parties.
"Can only trust my breasts now. I like my breasts, nothing can be killed by them. Hand, foot, tongue, gaze, all weapons from which nothing is safe. But not my breasts."
I don't read a ton of YA, but when Chris (teen librarian) recommends something it's usually worth it. So she tells me about Sweet, in which a new sweetener with miracle weight loss properties is developed, and tested, on a cruise full of drama and UNEXPECTED EFFECTS! (Ok, she told it better).
Been waiting for this J/YA memoir: "Robert Hoge was born with a giant tumour on his forehead, severely distorted facial features and legs that were twisted and useless. His mother refused to look at her son, let alone bring him home. But home he went, to a life that, against the odds, was filled with joy."
"An England where people who are wicked in thought or deed are marked by the Smoke that pours forth from their bodies, a sign of their fallen state. The aristocracy do not smoke, proof of their virtue and right to rule, while the lower classes are drenched in sin and soot. An England utterly strange and utterly real."
A children's book about my hero of heroes, RBG? Ten copies, please!
"What to Expect When You're Expecting is a perennial New York Times bestseller and one of USA Today's 25 most influential books of the past 25 years. It's read by more than 90% of pregnant women who read a pregnancy book." Well, ok then! Am I cool with this 2008 version I found or should I get a newer one? Anyone have any other book suggestions?
Looks so goood, can't wait to reeead.
Shockingly, this amazing book sale find is not in the database to tag! (I bet The Secret of the Fortune Wookiee is ace too).
Ok, excited for this one. Excited that it EXISTS, frankly. John Lewis is the real deal.
I know I'm not the only one who believed it would be super easy to sneak into a museum and just live there for a piece. And also solve ancient mysteries and stuff, as one does as a child.
"A travel guide to dangerous and frightful destinations."
Ugh, too good. A picture book about Jane Goodall. JUST TAKE MY MONEY!
So where's everyone from? I'm in Iowa.
This is the second Buddy and Earl book, and it's amazing. It's about the friendship between a hedgehog and a dog, and it's every bit as satisfying as you're imagining. There's a dog carrying a purse on the cover and a hedgehog who falls in love with a hairbrush- do I really need to go on? Get this book to read to all the baby children in your life, and then also to read to yourself when you need to be reminded that the world is good.
Thank you to everyone for saying such comforting things to me after I posted about Spikey yesterday. Seeing how many people who don't even know me but cared enough to reach out anyway really helped me. This is a great community.
Rest in treats, Spikey. It was your time to cross the rainbow bridge. We're sad so you never have to be.
Today some dude asked for books about, "Hillary Clinton, the criminal." Should have given him this.
The Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines has an ongoing kids program centered around reading featuring Ruby the Red Reading Panda. Obviously I'm obsessed with it.
Sometimes I get that Sunday night anxiety on Friday, staring at the long, dry weekend.
God, this book is beautiful.
Hospital waiting room reads.
Working the library booth at the county fair! You better believe that's a "Make America Read Again" hat. And I tagged Crankenstein from the book baskets because that's who I'm going to be in three hours.
I can see myself approaching the horizon.
I have yet to come across a single inspirational children's book about Donald Trump.
I bet she fucks it up.
My library buddy Kristen and I were talking about giant books, two in particular. Infinite Jest, which I found unreadable, and A Little Life, which I loved. So of course she decides to check out Infinite Jest because apparently "unreadable" is her idea of fun.
"Somebody asked me: "How do you write, create?" You don't, I told them. You wait, and if nothing happens, you wait some more. It's like a bug high on the wall. You wait for it to come to you. When it gets close enough you reach out and kill it. Or if you like its looks, you make a pet out of it."
I don't know why everyone is posting bookmarks but here's mine! I made it. Also, I tagged Gyo because I finally convinced someone to check it out! (She's probably going to come back crying, but that's what she gets for listening to me).
This is the one with ice-nine, right? Re-read.
How to follow A Little Life? The obvious choice would be A Brief History, but this one looks way more fun. Also: ATWOOD.
