Congrats on your Litsy milestone @DGRachel & thanks for the #ShareTheLitsyLove giveaway. The genre I love the most is not really a genre, but I call it #spinsterlit. Books featuring odd women alone; outsiders because they're too passionate, too quiet, too good. Some just want to be a witch in the woods. These are women who don't adjust to society & I find that fascinating. Recommending these books is interesting; people have varied reactions 😬

JaclynW @batsy Have you watched A Quiet Passion on Netflix? It's about Emily Dickinson. I like it for all the reasons you listed above in your description. I think this fits in your #spinsterlit (but real life obviously). You might like it. 6y

Westwood was written by the author of Cold Comfort Farm. The main character is Margaret Steggles, who everyone thinks of as a plain, bookish girl and to whom no one pays much attention.

I remember certain details of this book, but what stands out for me is that this is a book with a lot of heart. A slow burner of a book and something just a little bit different.

Here are a few red spined Vintage books. I adored all 3 of these but Westwood was something different and special. A real slow burner.
