Since I‘m walking with a girlfriend this time around I won‘t be listening to my audiobooks the whole time. 5y

I am loving this audiobook so far. I recently listened to the first book of the series( which I‘ve had on my shelf for years 😅) and thoroughly enjoyed it. Have any of you guys read this series? Do you have any similar books you can recommend to me? I would be listening to them through audiobook. 💚

Audiobook 35 for #BookFitnessChallenge @wanderinglynn

This was a good read. It was definitely better than the first. Not my favorite book, but not horrible either.

Well...okay. I really enjoyed Seven Black Diamonds, but this one wasn't what I was wanting or expecting. It's not bad, and I still like some of the characters, but it reads like a placeholder book--you know, the one in a series that only ties the one before it to the one after? Problem is, this is the last one in the duo. It's worth a read if you read the first one, but my guess is Marr was probably asked to wrap up the storyline early. #LitsyAtoZ

Laalaleighh Nothing in the story was resolved was it? I finished it and thought- that's it? The end? 8y
readinginthedark @Laalaleighh Well, it was more resolved than I expected from the rest of the story, but you're right. Based on my conversation with Marr at a convention in October, I expected her to do more with it. That's why I'm assuming the rug was pulled out from under it. 😕 8y
Laalaleighh I wonder why. It's was a waste of a world to just end it like that. 8y

readinginthedark @Laalaleighh Eh, I don't know. Probably money. I know Kelley Armstrong was told to end the Age of Legends series because it wasn't selling as well as her others. 😕 (I begged her to write another high fantasy, and she promised to try.) Probably what happened here. 8y
Laalaleighh That really upsets me. I mean game of thrones languished on the shelf half my life before it took off and no one told GRRM to quit writing. Sometimes things need time to find their audience. 8y
Laalaleighh (Idk- maybe someone did tell GRRM to quit writing seeing as his book series is older than some of my friends and it's still not finished) 8y
readinginthedark @Laalaleighh I agree; I hate that. Technically the publishers are advisors, though. I guess if she wanted to continue the series when her contract's up with them, she could, but I doubt she will. And I know what you mean about GoT! But I'm pretty sure Martin would just thumb his nose at them and write what he wants. Too famous to care. 8y

So I really liked this but am a little confused that it is the "conclusion" of the series. I felt like she spent a lot of time on some really good character development and story lines that never got used/resolved. Hope she at least sets another book(s) in this world using these characters.

Sometimes I avoid books I need to finish. This one's judging me from my nightstand while I read other things...

Laalaleighh Finish it so I can see if you want to throw things with me! 8y

The word closure means nothing to this author. I feel like I just read book two of a seven part series not the conclusion to a duology. This book is just 100 loosely connected plot points left dangling in mid air. The concepts in this series are really interesting. I just feel so much more could have been done with them. This is a twilight book. I just got Stephenie Meyers'd. AGAIN. Give this series, sorry, "duology" to Sarah J. Maas. PLEASE.

readinginthedark I think this is going to be a trilogy, actually, so there will be a conclusion. But the second one just came out, so we'll have to wait a year or so. 8y
Laalaleighh @readinginthedark I went to her website and it said OBL was the "sequel/conclusion" ? If she writes more books in the world I'll probably upgrade my opinion. But I'm like, throwing things frustrated right now haha. Imagine if HP had ended after book five? 8y
readinginthedark @Laalaleighh Hm...strange. Well, I know when I talked to her in October, she was planning to write more than two. Maybe the publishers pulled the plug on it? That happened with a different YA series I finished last year. 😕Too bad. 8y
Laalaleighh @readinginthedark ugh. That would be so frustrating. I got the sense that she could be a really great author and that the book was rushed. Like she was trying to fit too much into one book and then just gave up a decent stopping point. Maybe she was trying to cram several books worth of story into one volume. I hope she finishes it. 8y
